Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film
It all seems a bit dark to me, but the framing looks good. I applaud you for doing the tile thing, I've never found the courage to try it.

That looks amazing! Like Legocloniac said, it's a bit dark.
Wow, Kieren - this looks epic, especially the tiled floor sequence. That's something I haven't dared try yet...you're a brave man. The first set, with all the greenery, is probably my favourite though. I love outdoor sets.
A little bit too much white balance for my liking, but they're really cool frames, Kieren. ![]()
@Kieren,
You may not have wanted to post quite so many frames at once, especially seeing as they are fairy similar, and it fills up the page pretty quickly.
First, the sets are great, and I hope you're not having too much trouble on that tile floor.
The Jungle ones look nice, but it's almost like there's too much green. It's just a tad bit too harsh, but it wouldn't take much to fix that. Either color-correction or adding a few more colors to the set should solve it.
The other set is great. It's a clean and cool pattern that is repeated and just looks nice. The tiled floor is a neat design, and I hope you have good luck animating on it.
The frames do seem to lean slightly on the dark side, and then there's the matter of mixing fleshies with yellows.
But otherwise, and even now, they look amazing.
@Sean, Dusty, but otherwise perfect. Reminds me of the "The Call of Farqunglu" in a very good way.
No flaws except the dust.
@Squid, Didn't even know we had that icon. "Citizen of the Year" reference right?
Can't add anything to that set that hasn't already been said elsewhere.
Looking great Kieren. Is the white balance meant to be so strongly yellow though?
The lighting is outstanding.
Speaking of lighting, I don't know how much this will effect the final film, but I used LED's on the top and bottom of each alcove for ambience. I either need stronger LED's, or diffuse my main lights more, because when I turn on the set lighting, you can't see the LED's anymore.

I think it's a bit on the green side, personally, but I'm going to edit the white balance in post. I do like my pictures a little warmer though. May not be everyone's cup of tea, but I'm going for a warm look.

Nice frames all around everyone (I'm way too tired to post comments on each). Sean, I really hope that's a reference. ![]()
(I had no idea this was possible, thank you mods)

Nothing wrong with that, especially if it fits the tone of the film. Looking forward to it!
And to people commenting on my frame...

Very epic indeed. I LOVE the floor design, and that stone-sword thing looks pretty cool as well.
Good job Kieren!

I think LEDs work best in MOCs, but you used it very well.
The warm look kinda ruins it for me. It makes them all look kinda awkward. Especially the exterior shots, which really shouldn't be that warm at all. I guess it makes sense for interior shots since sometimes bulbs are that hue, but for exterior it just looks cheesy.

I disagree. I think, first of all, we have to see what context it's in. Secondly, he already stated that he likes the warmer look, if that's his preference, then I don't see anything necessarily wrong with it. Thirdly, it might not have a realistic feel (Reverting back to point one). For what it's worth, the skies here in Pennsylvania sometimes are of that hue.

Im kinda thinking of redoing The ferst frame without the background buildings. Any thoughts or suggestions.

Leave the background buildings, they make the frame look amazing!
Cotton ball smoke, haven't seen that in a while. Nice and retro there, I like it.
I like that you're doing something steampunk, but would also love to see what the blue looks like color-changed to gray. (That's your plan, right?) Also, a personal preference here, but I prefer walls that are a bit more straight up and down with stuff poking in or out than those that are fairly deep and build forward and backward several studs.
It might be better if each build back was only one stud, but the two open studs just don't look right. It's harder to figure out the 'look' you're going for, and I recommend simplifying things a bit. Here's one last tip, people LOVE it when gears are turning in the background, so if you want to go for extra bonus points make sure they can spin easily.
I hate to set myself up as a standard, but maybe you should check out the STEAMPUNK film linked in my sig. It may help inspire you with production on your film, and may even give you some good set ideas.

Ok sweet thanks. The one building is my dads flashlight so I wasn't sure if that kind of made it not a lego film. But if you
guys think its ok then I think Il keep it.
Thanks

I wasn't going to show any of this before the whole project was finished, but I decided to give you all a peek. Maybe it'll give you some ideas!
If you can guess what it is, that is.
