Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

Here's a frame from "Holding Our Own: Episode 3":

I discuss it a bit on my Tumblr page:

Here, Brent Schneider (voice by Michael Tourette) is entering the store, where a storekeeper runs (voice by “Uncle Sluggo”).  Notice the top shelf on the left.  One of the red 1x1 round bricks is an older type, made of Samsonite in the 1960s, but it is a true Lego brick.  There is no ridge on the bottom.  The two 1x1 bricks on the counter are Modulex bricks, which were produced in the 1960s through the early 1980s, and sold only to architects (These are also true Lego bricks.).  I took the opportunity to show off a few of my rare color collection with items on the shelves.  On the left, you will see Lego elements in medium blue (fairly uncommon), medium azure and light lavender.

Cool frame, good lighting, is this the scene where I'm in?

Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

I believe it is!

Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

@Holding,
Looks nice, I enjoy the use of rarer/older parts, and the store shelves are very well stocked.
The store does a great job with using the smaller room but still making it room-y enough to sorta animate.
My only (Tiny) gripes would be that the sky background is darker and more gray, and not a brighter, normal blue.
But if this is one a stormy/overcast day then that works fine.

The other two have to do with the framing. I don't care for seeing ceilings, so I'd rather a slightly tighter angle that doesn't show the top. Also, the angle is straight on, and fairly wide. I know your film style uses this a lot, and it's just a personal preference kind of issue, but a closer more interesting angle would probably give it more appeal.

@Squid,
The waterfall frame looks great, and I can't wait to see how you are going to use the glowing head.
I have learned to never question your madness, because awesomeness invariably ensues.

Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

I think that's the best frame we've seen from you, nice job. mini/smile

Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

Holding, that's such a great frame! First off, I love the set, and the level of detail on the shelves. The way you've divved up colour is great too; very bright and vivid, but it doesn't feel cluttered.

Second, the angle itself perfectly frames the whole scene. You've got the two characters, but I love that the rest of the shop is in frame. That just fleshes out the shot so much.

Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

Nice frame Holding, I especially love the use of a ceiling (It's rare in brickfilms). My only irk are the neon colors; I'm not entirely sure what era your film is taking place in though, so I'll save my reservation for when the time comes.

Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

Thanks all, for your comments.  Juggernaut, the story takes place a long time ago: the year 2009.  But I love the 1980s, so it may reflect then!  Pritchard, there's something for everybody.  I shot two cuts at some interesting angles, but I didn't transfer them from the camera to the laptop yet.  There are also some tighter cuts too.  I know that my brickfilms are a reflecting a live-action style that doesn't lend to daring camera angles, but I've been trying to make more dynamic shots to keep the viewer's interest visually!

Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

Our very very first set, a little bit steampunk (steam engine). All blue will be rebuilt in brown colour.

Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

Awesome, Legosteniker. Loving the steam.

I would suggest not going all-brown for the walls. Try instead using Dark Grey bricks, perhaps with brown as an accent. The reason being that you don't want the brown/bronze parts of your set and props getting "lost" against a large brown wall.

Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

I really like the blue-ness of it.  It accents the red perfectly.

Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

Thanx Sean!

First choice was black, but the cloth of the main figures are black (you can`t see any actors, just yellow heads!). Then I changed in brown, but I had not enough brown bricks. Now is the choice really dark grey.
I will make a new pic, when I have finished the new version.

@HoldingOurOwn: Perhaps I shoud think about my newest choice. Let me try and see...

Cultists sacrificing parrots?

Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

No, Willco66! Don't you know anything about parrots? If you collect enough of them, put them on a metal table (preferably steel) and pour chocolate sauce and olive oil over them, they turn into a six-foot-tall parrot/dinosaur hybrid called a Parrosaur.

Duh. Sean's clearly making a documentary.

Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

The shot looks pretty great, the weird hooded possibly cultist dudes look cool and creepy.  Though, I'd suggest dusting a little better, there are particles all over the place which shouldn't be there.  An unused paint brush works rather well for getting rid of that sort of thing.

I hope this has something to do with

Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

Sean and Squid, those are both really great frames. They remind me of how much I love this era of DSLR brickfilming, there's potential for (evidently) some excellent [noun I am too tired to formulate].

Excellent quality, Squid! Can't wait to see the finished product.

Have you seen a big-chinned boy?

Re: Frame from Your Upcoming Film

I thought I already posted them here, but a quick search, and I can't find a post from me. So here goes. These are all frames from my series currently in pre-production and early filming. The scenes may or may not appear in the final cut, but enjoy anyway. I'm really concerned about the sword fight. I'm going to be shaky cam-ing that, and it will be especially difficult to animate in a tiled room.
