I think I might just give this a try. Looks to me like it's going to be a once-in-a-lifetime kind of film; something so ambitious that something of its kind may never be made again. I guess I'll have to set my "pessimistic fanboy" aspects aside and enjoy The LEGO Movie.
I think it's the fact that it's from the two bumbling directors that led 21 Jump Street and Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs directly into sequeldom that kept driving me away from this film. It was merely paranoid fear that Lord and Miller were going to put The LEGO Movie into the hands of a guy who wanted to put out a half-baked straight-to-Redbox/Walmart sequel the following year, and play the classy "none of the original voice actors reprise their roles" card (the Open Season sequels, anyone?).
But I think I'm now willing to give it a try. I'll watch it...after The Wind Rises hits cinemas in sixteen days!
