Brotherhood Workshop posted a couple days ago that they got to attend a screening of The LEGO Movie. And they thought it was the most hilarious movie they have ever seen. My hopes have raised even higher.
And still higher they go as I watch that Behind-The-Bricks special. Man, I'm really hyped for it now. 
Edit: The cat licking her paw at 1:33 sound an awful lot like Pinkie Pie.... Oh dear.

Assuming it's the character I think it is, that's Alison Brie (plays Annie on Community).
It doesn't start in Australia until April 
Currently planning to watch it on opening day.

Yeah, there are actual sets to promote the movie. THey're in stores now, in fact. I actually left them out of my Jan 2014 preview thread because The Lego Group marked them as confidential.

If they hadn't emphasize the CGI nature of this film and someone told me it was stop-motion, I would believe them. Looking forward to it.

They state without hesitation that brickfilms were a major inspiration in making the movie, just in case it wasn't obvious. 
I think I might just give this a try. Looks to me like it's going to be a once-in-a-lifetime kind of film; something so ambitious that something of its kind may never be made again. I guess I'll have to set my "pessimistic fanboy" aspects aside and enjoy The LEGO Movie.
I think it's the fact that it's from the two bumbling directors that led 21 Jump Street and Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs directly into sequeldom that kept driving me away from this film. It was merely paranoid fear that Lord and Miller were going to put The LEGO Movie into the hands of a guy who wanted to put out a half-baked straight-to-Redbox/Walmart sequel the following year, and play the classy "none of the original voice actors reprise their roles" card (the Open Season sequels, anyone?).
But I think I'm now willing to give it a try. I'll watch it...after The Wind Rises hits cinemas in sixteen days!
