CON was a film created for BiM's "THAC 11" (Twenty-Four Hour Animation Contest). The theme was "A Mistaken Identity." Everything in the film was created in a 24 hour period.

Re: CON [THAC 11]

That was really cool! Lighting was amazing, and I love what you did with the theme. You're sure to do well in the contest.

Re: CON [THAC 11]

Creepy, I'm not sure I got the ending with the face change though.

Re: CON [THAC 11]

Great job, the lighting, sets, animation and story were all top-notch.
Didn't get the ending twist, but the rest is great.
Hope it places well.

Re: CON [THAC 11]

I wonder if that last scene is telling us something about yourself, Aquamorph.

Re: CON [THAC 11]

The whole film was, as everyone else commented, very well lit. The narration was engaging if not a bit snotty, and the dialogue in general was quite snappy and well thought out. There could have been more of a plot and the ending was on the iffy side of things, yet I think this is still a very strong and convincing entry with some really good content.

Was it based on your own life, Christian Conglacier?

Re: CON [THAC 11]

Very nice lighting and cinematography, my only real complaint was that maybe you could have done a little more with the premise. I mean, there's the twist at the end, but it didn't really seem to make much sense to me.

Maybe if it turned out that

Spoiler (click to read)

the narrator was actually the other person, and he himself was scamming the con artist

that could have twisted things up well.

So yeah overall very nice technical aspects, but I just feel that you should have done more with it.

Re: CON [THAC 11]

The entry boasts some very good lighting tricks, but I do agree with the above post.

Have you seen a big-chinned boy?

Re: CON [THAC 11]

Really well done! Ending was really unexpected but that's fine, solid writing! Solid overall! mini/smile

Re: CON [THAC 11]

OH WOW THERE'S ALL OF THESE PRETTY BLUE LIGHTS EVERYWHERE IT'S SO BEAUTIFUL AHHHHH!

It's a good job  good good good.  I like it a lot how there is talking and words are being said in a cool way nice voice narration.  Hair is moving a weird way though, needs sticky many repeat shots, but good shots, oh look a robot. Or a cyborg.

(My typing isn't good right now.  THAC has gotten to me)

The con artist is a robot and thus it is a double con because a robot must be created. Thus the creator of the robot has escaped profiling and pulled off a clean scam.

I'm a computer program not a robot.

Re: CON [THAC 11]

Video quality was nice. Animation was mediocre, could have been better. A lot of the animation looked like it was recycled quite often.

The narrator didn't really fit the character. When I saw the face I thought it would've been a bit of a deeper voice.

Overall, the visuals were nice but it lacked quality animation and story.

A Life? Cool! Where can I download one of those from?

I think you're a bit harsh here. The animation is not mediocre... I personally liked it.

Just think about it: 2:26 is a solid running-time for a film made in 24 hours mini/wink

And the cinematography is good, really good.

But it looked like quite a few shots were either stills or recycled animation.

Re: CON [THAC 11]

It's fine if you think that, Carroll, but maybe you could've said it in a more constructive and helpful manner. Like what could he have done to make it better?

Maybe, but if the cinematography is good I don't really care about that.

I really don't see anything wrong with stills in animation especially for a 24 hour contest.  I feel like my animation had enough motion in it. Also the reused footage was used for storing telling purposes. The films story was non-linear which means everything didn't happen time wise in order. So that is why certain shots were reused. It's a very common technique to use in non-linear films but I guess non-linear films aren't all that common. Christopher Nolan's Memento is an excellent example of a non-linear film and it had plenty of reused footage.
