Oh please don't scare me about that. I've decided to use HF for THAC this year and I still have terrible memories of losing over 500 frames on one of my films.
Use monkeyjam... I still use it, and it has never crashed on me.
I know it doesn't crash, but it can't shoot in higher resolution and it doesn't have instant playback, which could save some time.

Since I built a gnome village, and mine will probably be about gnomes, this might be useful.

Ok, I just got a c910 today, and I'll be using it with THAC tomorrow.

Grrrrr.....I'm already experiencing the THAC curse.
HF has never crashed on me before, but today it crashed twice in under fifteen minutes.And now I have to look up how to recover the files....
EDIT: Yeah! I found the file! Nothing is lost! Everybody lives Rose. Just this once, everybody lives! (Oh wait....

Do either of you export the frames while animating? I can understand the .AVI file corrupting, but shouldn't the individual frames be fine if you're exporting them and it crashes? Or can you actually lose all of your individual frames if it crashes?
This could be bad news for me as well, because I will be using Helium Frog if I enter this year. Monkey Jam is impossible to animate in because of my screen resolution.
I don't think it's a good idea to try to enter THAC while being high. Plus, it could get you in trouble with THE LAAAW.
I should be fine. The only real "drug" I have is LEGO. 
Ah it's gonna be 50/50 whether I can enter this. I'll probably have to go and spend the day doing family stuff 
Oh well I guess I'll just have to wait a year too THAC XI!

The avi file didn't corrupt, I just had to find out where it was.
The frames would be perfectly fine even if HF crashed and the avi file corrupted, they're already written, exported and done. I don't think you can lose any frames once they've been captured and saved.

It's not a big deal, just locate the avi file, and hope that said scene was competed enough before it crashed. If not, then you won't have to re-film much. Although if you've got enough memory space, you may want to export the frames just in case.
Less than twelve hours to go.... 
Thanks Pritchard. That is good to know. I've successfully compiled images in HF and Monkey Jam for animations before, so if I lose my .AVI I can always (try) recompile them.

i was actually thinking about doing that a few weeks ago
it'd be totally fun to make a musical in 24 hours, especially because of the lines that could come from it
