Re: What was the last movie you watched?
The Avengers
Very entertaining, and a lot better than I expected. Aside from the often ill-fitting jokes the movie is sporadically littered with, I don't have too many complaints.
Have you watched it in 3D? ![]()

Yep.
Spielberg's "Duel"
Amazing. Very suspense and entertaining; the ending is not really unexpected, but it's definitely great. I have seriously never seen such a film, definitely worth watching.
Yes. This is true. Spielberg can take a stiff, nearly inflexible story idea and make it incredible. It scared the crap out of me, and that's really saying something. And for one of his first telly movies, it's astounding. I recommend this to everyone here.

I watched it today. It was epic.
The Pirates! Band of Misfits (2012)
Yes, the first Aardman stopmotion film in over 5 years. And, quite a good job. As Ellen DeGeneres would say, "Hilarious!"
10/10
A.I Artificial Intelligence (2001)
From the mind of Stanley Kubrick and the directing hands of Steven Spielberg...that's spectacular.
9.7/10

The Ruins
Ouch! Was this really as bad for others as it was for me? The ending is such a BS and overall I have no idea how this crap made it into theaters. Films like Piranha 3D are sooo bad they become good but The Ruins even fails to do that. Epic fail and waste of time. How the hell does it have 5.9 rating on iMDB? I don't wanna live on this planet anymore....
The Pirates! Band of Misfits (2012)
I had been waiting so long for this, and it didn't disappoint! I loved it. Aardman stop-motion films are just mind bogglingy (if that is a word...) good, technically wise. The attention to detail, the animation, etc, was all just amazing. Story wise, I liked it also. There were things that could have been improved sure, but It was handled plenty well enough, that is for sure. Just a great little adventure story.
I personally didn't think it was quite as good as Chicken Run, but just barely. In the end, I'm sure going to buy it when it comes out. My only real complaint is that it is TO SHORT.
It is only an hour an twenty minutes or so, which really left me wanting more (not that I blame them for finishing it up that soon, it took them years to make as it is). I'd take quality over quantity any day though, so on that front, they deliver.
So in the end:

On my English literature course we're currently studying the book "Of Mice and Men" written by John Steinbeck. We recently watched the film in class and I have to say it's one of the most moving films I've ever witnessed. Like most films I prefer the book, simply because there wasn't enough depth of detail. I recommend this film to you guys, but you'll probably study it at school if you live in the UK.
The Avengers (2012)
I liked it, but it was pretty hard to understand anything because I have not watched any other superhero movies.

I hadn't watched any others except the first Iron Man, and I freaking loved this movie, though I still did know about the backstory of a few members.

The only thing I knew was the references to Nordic Mythology (I'm Norwegian), which is the origins of Thor and Loke.
The Avengers
OMG HOLY CRAPZ THIS IS THE BEST MOVIE OF THE YEAR ALL THE AWESOMENESS OF MARVEL UNIVERSE IN ONE FILM (minus Spiderman
)
Now that I have that out of the way, I can confirm without a shadow of a doubt that the rumors are true. This is probably the best superhero flick since X-Men: First Class. The story is very well told overall, yet in the beginning I felt as if I was thrown in the middle of things and it took me a little bit to figure out what was happening. The characters all develop really well and they all have their moments; Iron Man had the best lines, fyi. The battle scenes look really epic, and the 3D makes it even better.
My only nitpick would have to be that the humor was a buzzkill for the mood of the scene.
At one point, Loci was starting a monologue about how he was a god and shouldn't be fighting the freaky mortals of the Avengers, then Hulk just cuts him off and smashes him against the floor over and over again. And after a fight, the Hulk randomly punches Thor for no real reason other than to make the little kid in the audience laugh.
Overall, I'd give it a score of 9.8 out of a 10.
Captain America: The First Avenger
Of all the popular comic book super heroes, Captain America is my least favorite. I've never really felt the bright, colourful and ridiculously cheesy over-the-top patriotic look could be taken seriously.
Despite all that, this was still a pretty great film, and I enjoyed it. Nice action, awesome over-the-top villain played by a wonderful actor, and awesome weird '40s scifi stuff.
Going to see avengers today. ![]()
Tommy Boy (1995)
Pretty much one of the funniest movies ever made. I sure miss Chris Farley...
9/10
E.T (1982)
Now, Steven Spielberg is known as one of the greatest directors of all time. But, look at him disappointing us now. Lemme just say this...not his best, but not his worst.
4.7/10
I thought an Avengers thread would be in order with the release of the film.
Saw it Saturday and it is one of the greatest super hero movies of all time.
Great action, great story, great pace and great acting.
You do not leave this film feeling empty believe me.
The Avengers is a rock solid that has been well worth the wait.
This can be discussed in this thread:

EDIT: Antonio Ferrarra's post was made in a thread he made (the Avengers), but his post was moved here.
