Re: What was the last movie you watched?
Does anyone know why Europe got it earlier, and why Assemble is added to the title in some places?
IDK, they did the same thing for Tintin. The lucky dogs over in Europe got to witness it two months earlier.

"This movie was renamed Avengers Assemble in the UK to avoid confusion with the unrelated 1961 TV show called The Avengers, which in turn had its own movie adaption."
Still dunno why it wasn't released simultaneously world-wide. ![]()
And I probably will not get to go to watch The Avengers, just too many curse words for me. ![]()
I can't wait!!
The Avengers
Better than I thought it would be.

Not to be the guy that doesn't say the avengers but...
Airheads
"The Lone Rangers? That's original. How can you pluralize "Lone Ranger"?"
Did you see the 3D version?
Unfortunately not. ![]()

I think Assemble was added in England because there was already something else named The Avengers, like a series or another movie.
Well, first off, that's a little harsh. Personally, I'd give the first X-Men a 3.4/10.
Second, X-Men: First Class was by far the best one in the franchise to date.
Yeah, I knew what you meant.
And yeah, First Class is a prequel. Prof. X has hair and can walk! ![]()
Grease (1978)
Fun and entertaining! Usually, I'm not such a fan of movie/musicals. Hazzat even made an adaption of it...sort of.

It's a reboot, or they erased "the last stand" from that universe.

yeah they erased Last stand from the x-men movie universe... well thats what the writers said. the director said it was both a prequel and a reboot
Who merged the Avengers thread into this one? Are we seriously only allowed to have one thread about movies in a forum about movies, now? It makes discussion pretty hard.
I liked the movie, though admittedly I was a little disappointed by what I felt was overall a pretty shallow plot. The writing and little details are what made it highly entertaining. It's pretty cool that Joss Whedon can write and direct competently like this, there are so many great bits of dialog. Maybe I'm expecting too much, but as Marvel movies go, I thought Thor and the first Iron Man had quite a bit of depth to them. (Thor makes a great sacrifice to save his worst enemies from extinction; the whole thing with Tony Stark becoming a morally conscious person who wants to change the world for the better.) There wasn't really a noticeable character arc in this movie except for maybe Black Widow and Hulk.
The other thing that bothered me was how the trailers left very little to the imagination regarding the plot of this movie.
I thought the scene at the end of the credits was pretty hilarious, especially knowing that they filmed it only a few weeks before the worldwide release of the movie.

Is that a fact? Well blow me down! (reference)
That makes the shot even more hilarious, that they got in makeup and everything just for that.
I went and saw Pirates: An Adventure with Scientists (or Pirates: A Band of Misfits as it's called in my country the good ol' US of A) for the second time today, specifically to watch the technical aspects of the film. As has been said by many, overall it was absolutely incredible; stunning animation, amazing lighting and stupendous sets. Something that struck me as odd though was that almost every shot with a single character had that character in the center of the shot; granted, sometimes this is appropriate for emotional emphasis, but at least in photography this is a major no no. Also, I couldn't help but laugh to myself when I noticed one shot, out of the thousands in the film, had light flicker. I've been wondering to myself all day what caused it. But like I said before, this movie is amazing and gives stop motion a good name. ![]()
Apocalypse Now
For me, this wasn't just a movie, it was an experience. It was a constant downward spiral into complete insanity, where you constantly hope you could go back to just a few minutes before which compared to what's happening at the time, seems like the realm of the sane, and rational. This movie left me in a trance like state for days in which I repeatedly ejected feces into my pants. But it was so amazing, I didn't even care.
