I'm planning on updating the signal a little, possibly rethinking the design so no studs are popping up, and improving the extremely unstable rig holding it up.
It took me so many hours to get that Bat shape right. mini/twitch

Re: I Am The Night

The bat gets to thin in the middle, and the ears don't show up very well when it's out of focus.
You may want to have the middle three or four studs thick, (not including the head) and have the ears be plates that are two studs long, or more. But if you want to keep that basic shape, then just make the ears bigger and that'll make it look a lot better.

I like it being brick-built though, it'll look more like it's "in" the film than just photo-shopping in a picture of the logo.
But are you going to add the light shining up to it later, or just leave it as it is in the first pic?

EDIT: I love the shape as it is, but it just doesn't show up well when it's out of focus, and isn't "Bat-signal-y" enough. But I would keep that and hang it up in the Batcave, because that's just too cool not the put somewhere.

Re: I Am The Night

The reason it doesn't show up well is because of the lighting causing a shadow from the bat onto the Bat-Disc. I'm going to try to turn the disc so it'll not be facing the light source, and then have a torch/flashlight shining directly onto it in a way which hopefully will cast the shadows in such a way that the ears are preserved.

(I also just finished the re-done disc, and made some slight modifications to the bat)

Yep, gotta agree with Pritchard, the out-of-focus bat looks more like a game controller...

Re: I Am The Night

Yeah, it does. xD

Anyway, I think I have a better one:

I lengthened the bat just a tad, added some detail, redesigned the disc to be flat, made a nice new thing to hold it up more stably, and shined a light at it, which, really, really makes it look a lot better, and closer to the original symbol, though, I'm still glad it's slightly different.

Re: I Am The Night

Very nice, good job.
How are you going to make the light shining up onto it?

I agree with Boadron and Pitchart too.

But I love that night scenery and it's very big! Nice.

Stunning job as usual! With every post you're making it harder to wait another year before I see this... mini/lol

Using a webcam is totally out of the range of reasonable possibilities for me. I don't have a laptop. And my parents don't want us to have our own computers. All computers must be located in the room where I am right now which has four windows, three skylights, and huge openings to other rooms with even more windows. So closing off the natural light is impossible, and having a computer in my room is impossible.
So, no webcam. xD

(Also, my camera takes 2816 x 1584. Hahaha! xD)

same here, what i do is i have a webcam hooked up to the computer and i have a curtain around a table with the lego set on it so the computer is out in the open but the set i am filminf is not so it is easy to block out natrual light and my parents don't complain that they can not see what is on the computer mini/smile

problem solved mini/smile

Re: I Am The Night

I haven't really had much cause for a proper update for a while, but I'll give you one anyway.

Progress on the new animation studio has been progressing slowly, but surely, it will be done eventually, but it still may take a while. Every time it seems I'm close to my goal, it gets further away. He he. I want this to be done before I animate, I hate doing it on the floor, and I think that if I am more comfortable it may be easier to focus on animation and improve it.

A few weeks ago I got the Bat-Cave and the Bat-Plane. The main great part about this is I now have the Bat-Phone which I have desired for such a long time. Using pieces from the other set, I've made slight modifications to the Bat-mobile, switching out a piece on the front which was scratched, and changing the window out with the one from the Joker's Chopper. The reasoning being that my old design did not allow the window to be brought up, and I can now animate the cockpit opening, and more easily turn on the engine light.

Besides this, I've just been doing a lot of dull brick-sorting to make building simpler, and I found a wonderful way to modulate the Scarecrow's voice after doing some tests.

So concludes my update.
Try not to be too excited, I know you guys want to see this, and I do honestly think it could be one of the greatest brickfilms yet, but it's going to take a long time.

Re: I Am The Night

The bat symbol looks awesome! Can't wait to see this, no matter how long it takes. Don't rush yourself however, that's usually a bad thing.

Re: I Am The Night

I don't know what to say... The pictures are simply amazing.

Re: I Am The Night

You're probably not going to notice the significance of this at first. But I'm so very happy to have achieved this.

http://sphotos.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/s720x720/543553_425303390826342_865915055_n.jpg

Here are two pictures. To the left is a picture of Alfred, taken in my old animation studio with no lights turned on at all, the only light is the natural light which comes in through the sides of the blinds for my three windows. This ambient light is always present in my animations, unless I do it at night, and is likely the cause for much flickering. It was taken with the aperture as wide as possible, and with a 30 second exposure.

To the right is a picture of Alfred, taken with the exact same settings for maximum brightness, but in my new Vortex studio. It is impossible to see him or anything because of how dark it is.

Why is this important? You may be wondering. Well, now I shall have complete control of my lighting, without any natural light bleeding through like my old studio, reducing flicker, and increasing the quality if my films.
mini/bigsmile

The new improved Vortex studio is nearly complete. A few more days and I'll have some pictures that aren't ink black, and then I'll get this film up and running.

Re: I Am The Night

Awesome! Now your videos will be even better!

Re: I Am The Night

That still looks amazing! I love the unique spin you've put on the Characters, I particularly like how you've made the Joker, it's not often I see a character and think that Takeshi's exo-force hair suits them! (Other than on the exo-force characters of course XP) Really looking forward to seeing how this turns out! And i'd be willing to give any advice or help should you need it mini/smile
