Topic: Fear Gas Test

A test I made for Scarecrow's Fear Gas in I Am The Night.
Unfortunately, the nightmare part turned out kinda badly. mini/tongue
I did this mainly to see how the gas effect worked.

I'm open to other suggestions on how to make the gas better. mini/smile

Re: Fear Gas Test

i thought it looked good, my only complaint would be it seemed he flew back to far.

Re: Fear Gas Test

Yeah, I thought so. I wanted him to get scared and fall, but it ended up looking like he got pushed back by some green goo.
xD

Re: Fear Gas Test

What exactly did you use for the gas, cotton? I would suggest after it starts to come out sorta pressurized, to start slowing it down so it looks more like gas. Great job on this. mini/yes

It will have a better feel to it when the sfx are placed. I'm sure it'll be a gassy sound from the gun rather than a thud lol mini/smile

Re: Fear Gas Test

Looked a lot better then adding the gas on afterwards in post production.
Nice. mini/smile

Re: Fear Gas Test

Do you, by any chance, mean "tear gas"?
Nevermind.

Re: Fear Gas Test

How did you color the cotton ball? Was it a green light? mini/tongue

Re: Fear Gas Test

Just a simple tool in photo shop I can quickly use to add the colour in a few seconds. mini/smile

(Though, I would rather have actual green cotton, since it would look slightly more realistic, but I don't think anyone would sell that)

Re: Fear Gas Test

The only thing that needs some improvement is how the gas moves.  Cotton can work really well for smoke or gas if animated right.  The main thing to remember is that a light gas moves up and disperses.  If you do that, then it'll come out really great.

Not literally dead, just no longer interested in Lego or animation.

It depends on the gas. Some gasses are heavier than air, and thus sink. This is what makes Chlorine gas so dangerous.

Re: Fear Gas Test

Looks great for an initial test! The coloring was a nice touch and worked well. I can't think of anything else to add on to what others have said except encouragement. Looking forward to the final production! mini/smile

Oh, right.

Well, to animate a gas like that, you would make it go strait out and slowly sink to the bottom and disperse to the sides.  It doesn't just drop like a rock.

And another thing; gas moves slowly unless propelled out of something or something is moving air towards it rapidly.  So once it's shot out of the gun, it would move forward fast then slow down.

Re: Fear Gas Test

It was quite excellent. Using cotton is really inventive for gas. I liked it mini/smile .
