Re: The CGI Thread
Yeah I would agree, if you added the little studs on the tops of each of the blocks that might be enough?

And what is the error message you get? There should be something that pops up in the smaller blender window.
didnt really see, all it said was "check python console"
it was followed by what looks like the location of the scripts
course i didnt really look
Have you considered using a terrain bumpmap instead? One that would generate a terrain that looks like the rotunda's top dome with hard edges. That way, you don't need to have all those vertices inside the dome set that we will never see.
I must admit to being pretty oblivious when it comes to bumpmaps. I know they are a prominent fixture in most CGI, but I've yet to take the time to learn anything about them.
okay, this time when i got the error, i looked at what everything said.
when i try to import i get this message:
Python Script Error: Check Console
on the console, i get this
Traceback <most recent call last>:
File "(location of ldraw import script)"
line 279, in fs_callback
read<filename>
File "(location of ldraw import script)"
line 221, in read
File "(location of ldraw import script)"
line 94, in read
for line in file.readlines<>:
Unboundlocalerror: local variable 'file' referenced before assignment
i have no idea what this means
The edges of the bricks seem very fine and it wouldn't hurt to bevel them a bit. But not too bad.
The lighting looks good, and the background looks realistic, but the edges look REALLY sharp.
I think it looks fairly good overall! So nice job! I think though it could be improved on in the area of the ground. If you check out photos of the Temple, you'll notice the complexity of the surrounding city and complexity of it. I'd suggest adding more to the ground itself to give it a more dynamic look. It also looks very cinematic so that's great! ![]()
What program is it?
Did you give any of the bricks an edge split modifier? The cone at the base looks like it needs one.
