Re: What was the last movie you watched?

But Stanley Kubrick wasn't British, although apparently he did live in Britain. Plus, Arthur C Clarke was british.

PLATOON

An EPIC war movie. It's one of the greatest war movies ever made, those who haven't seen it yet should quickly run to the store and rent it out mini/wink

Normally I'm not one for weird sci-fi movies, but this was awesome!  The special effects were fairly good, the acting was good, and the plot was mind-blowingly brilliant.  I was kinda put off by the weird aliens, but it was an amazing movie.  Oh, and there was excessive use of swearing.  4.5/5

Terry Gilliam is American, but he's made several British Movies. Alfred Hitchcock was English, but he made movies in Hollywood for most of his career.

Basically, a British movie is a movie funded by Britain. I dont count Harry Potter as a British movie - because although it was filmed in Scotland/London and has a very impressive ensemble cast of Shakespearean actors, it was funded by Warner Brothers (which is an American company).

And Harry Potter hasn't helped the British film industry since all its profits go to Hollywood anyway - the reason why people think its helping Britain is because a lot of people go to see it, meaning UK Cinemas get a load of money; but by that logic you can argue that Avatar has helped the British film industry...

Max is right.

It's due to the fact it was filmed entirely in Britain, though with American money. So it's debated, most people say it's a joint production.

Oh forget it.

Transformers

That was loud. Still think it's a solid movie though. Just a lot of stuff goin on.
Still don't know how this didn't win best vfx.

Jeux d'enfants AKA Love me if you dare
Saw this in class today, it was illogical, monotonous, annoying and overly melodramatic. The main characters were !@#$%^&. One of the worst movies I've seen in a while.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Groundhog Day

Funny, yet dramatic. Has a good lesson.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Not as good as the first three, of course. Sort of hard to understand.

Spoiler (click to read)

The alien part was kinda putting me to sleep; it wasn't very original. And, Mutt being Indy and Marion's son, pfft.

Did Lucas, Koepp, and Spielberg really have to go and put that part in? I mean, seriously.

SAFE HOUSE

I am both Washington and Reynolds fan so I gotta say I was super excited to see this and it didn't let me down. It lacks originality in terms of plot (the plot has been used in some many movies before) but I still managed to enjoy this film mostly because of great pace.

Well, I'm saying that British Films are films funded by Britain. RP Hoogle is saying that British films are films shot in Britain. I disagree - since millions of Hollywood Blockbusters shoot in England (about a third of the Original Star Wars Trilogy combined was shot in England - yet its a purely US production). But the meaning of 'British Film' is fairly ambiguous anyway...

Mullholland Drive
I am intrigued I guess, but I don't at all understand what happened. If anyone has an idea, please enlighten me.
EDIT: Just read this analysis. Very interesting... http://www.salon.com/2001/10/24/mulholl … _analysis/

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Chronicle was an outstanding movie.
It had a great script and a great pace and was not predictable.
And no it is not a super hero movie as some have claimed.
Brickfilmers will love this film and I will play spoiler on one part.
There is a Lego moment very cool.
See Chronicle you will not be disappointed.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest

Wow. I cannot describe how good this film was. If you have not see this then you've got to. Jack Nicholson was amazing, and so were all the other actors. There were often pretty funny moments, but the whole thing was a pure drama. Incredible.

A few inaccuracies (i.e. July 7, 2010 was on a Wednesday, not a Saturday), but overall, an outstanding film.

I would have given it 1/10 for such a travesty.
