Well, The new Blender layout is a heck of a lot easier to use and I'm actually enjoying myself a bit.

Can someone tell me how to change the export image resolution, because I wanted to edit this in Photoshop into a desktop.

Double Post:

If you're using 2.59, there's a little button with a camera on it.
Click on that and under the resolution you'll see a slider that's sitting at 50%.
Drag it to 100%, and you'll have full HD.

Thanks! I "plan" on using it in a fully animated brickfilm, but since I have no idea how much my computer can handle, that may not work.

EDIT: Done with the robot's main body and right arm! I can't show anyone until I'm done with the entire thing, though.

ANOTHER EDIT: Done with its left arm!

Bumpo.

We need more activity in this forum.
It pains my heart to see it so desolate.

Random question then, just for the heck of it.

I'm looking at upgrading my computer from an old AMD duel core to an Intel i5. From doing some research I'll be reducing my rendering times to about 30% of what they were previously. Plus I'll still be able to use my old machine in my render farm that I've been collecting.

Anyone else ever looked into the best processer for the buck when it comes to 3d processing? What are you guys using and how do you find it handling raytracing and complicated scenes?

Re: The CGI Thread

Probably depends on the renderer you use.  I am also looking into creating a render farm but relying on Youtube's ad revenue to pay for the additional computer(s).  Seeing as there's really no chart out there that gives us this kind of info, we'd have to create one on our own to determine the cost to processing power ratio.

Will the AdSense program pay for a workstation type computer?
I heard that it wasn't very productive.

The cost for the farm isn't a big deal for me, except for looking into what the power costs will be. I'm quite lucky as my dad is in IT and is able to pick up duel cores for me at no cost from his work. Already I have my main computer, a laptop, and a random desktop, all of which are duel cores. So I have 6 cores. If I end up buying a new quad core, I'll be at 10 cores in my farm. mini/eek

Re: The CGI Thread

Another Blender question, is there a way to give a 2d .png image depth? (I use the newest version of Blender)

Are you asking if you can pay for a computer with AdSense revenue? The answer to that is yes, but depending on your audience size, it could take forever (and that's not a hyperbole).

You could use an image editing program to seperate your near object from your far object and then use blender to add blur.

Re: The CGI Thread

I guess depth was a bad word to use, I want to turn a .png image into a 3d object, but like a painting, or since this is for a introduction of a Minecraft Let's play, in the style of this:

EDIT: and if someone could give me a good place to get some Blender compatible fonts I would appreciate it.

WHAT? mini/eek
How have I not ever noticed this thread?! I finally have found a place to talk about 3d modeling and brickfilming, this has made my day. mini/bigsmile

@JamesW
You could get an i7 ~ that way you could use the 'hyper-threading' option and run 8 virtual cores, doubling the cores of an i5.  Have you considered using your GPU for acceleration?  That's also a possibility.

If I'm on the forums, I'm probably waiting for Blender to finish rendering.

Re: The CGI Thread

Done with the entire robot! Rigging is a pain in the butt, though. Especially the fingers.

Re: The CGI Thread

No its a noticeboard... and its MAYA

Re: The CGI Thread

You might be just the person to answer my question, Rsteenoven.

Is Autodesk matchmover a MAYA plugin or a standalone application?
I've asked this question a few times now.

Re: The CGI Thread

Its standalone, and its not a bad 3d tracker.

Re: The CGI Thread

Thank you!
Can I get it through the student software program?
