I just need three more actors for my new film, check the casting call here.

Re: The CGI Thread

None that I have used....

Yeah matchmover must come with maya then.

Re: The CGI Thread

Hey, I was wondering if you guys could critique my model for an upcoming film...
http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Wingman0mn/Endeavour/untitled.png

Dark, I know but a slight gamma increase will fix that.

I'm just looking for a few ideas on how to make it look more real before I bake the shadow map.

Thanks much!

Edit: Here's the photo I'm trying to replicate (I'm trying to replicate w/o the white 'fireflies' with in blender internal, image was rendered in luxrender)

If I'm on the forums, I'm probably waiting for Blender to finish rendering.

Re: The CGI Thread

Looks realistic.  I'm noticing a seam running across the 1x2 tiles on screen left.  Might want to see what's going on with those pieces.  Light in the back seems more intense.  Perhaps that's due to the lack of the ceiling pieces.

Re: The CGI Thread

Looks pretty good Wingman. I would personally try to create some more sharp contrasted lighting like you would see in a film like Alien or something. But if it doesn't fit, it should be fine the way it is now.
In your reference image I see the light coming through those grills in the ceiling, you might want to try to replicate that as well, maybe you could get some interesting shadows.

Re: The CGI Thread

titanpictures is making a movie and he was talking about his sets and how there going to be mostly cardboard, and that he was going to enhance them with cgi.my question is (if you haven't guessed) how do you enhance sets with cgi?

Re: The CGI Thread

There's lots of ways to enhance sets in post-production. In Brick It, I added signs to the coffee shop windows and the burger joint in After Effects to make the backgrounds more interesting. In Unrenewable, Smeagol built whole CGI cityscapes. Best bet would be to ask titanpictures what he means, I would have thought.

Re: The CGI Thread

Like what OldSratch told.

Earlier is this thread I posted a image of a grey building. The idea behind is to build the bottom part as physic model and add upper levels with cgi.

I've been wondering to death how he did that. Is there a way to do it in Blender?

It can be done in any 3d modelling program.

How? Is it just motion tracking?

Re: The CGI Thread

That's very good, Wingman, but I don't really like that grey background.

Re: The CGI Thread

I like your setting wingman .. it's the way I would build it, too. I think you should extend it a bit in the background .. you will have more options for cinematography later.

Here is a in scene pic from my upcoming project .. all, except the background image is cgi:

Re: The CGI Thread

I love how it blends in with the clouds! And it really matches the background!
Excellent work! mini/smile

Re: The CGI Thread

Wow, that jet reminds me a lot of a jet I made one time, with almost that exact same color scheme. mini/eek Looks awesome.

I do like the model and the background, though one thing I noticed that the shadows (mainly on the white part toward the back of the jet) don't match up with the light source (aka the sun mini/wink).  Just a slight recalculation would rectify this minute error.  Keep up the good work!

Ignore the low quality BG and lighting, I'm shooting the HD footage for this shot next week. Next I need to add some foliage to the roof like leaves and branches etc.

Re: The CGI Thread

hey guys,i might be switching to mac and was looking at the free software list and want to know if i should continue to use blender or switch to wings3d.
