Re: Bim Community Project

I would really love a community project. I've never been in one before, but it sounds really awesome. I was thinking maybe doing one like, "The Day Brickfilms.com Crashed" but instead is, "The Day the Bricks in Motion Community Closed". Just an idea.

Re: Bim Community Project

The thing about that is that The BiM Community hasn't closed, whereas brickfilms.com really did crash on that fateful day.

Sonjira, the problem is not that it's a bad idea that couldn't be made into a good film - I'm sure it could - it's just that it's a touchy subject matter and an in-joke. In-joke movies have a limited appeal and are entertaining for a shorter time. It's not really worth it, considering the amount of work it would take to make a film like that.

Re: Bim Community Project

A community project could be fun. I have a question tho, would it be lots of individual animations uploaded to different channels or just 1 big animation that everyone contributes to? Both of which would be very fun.

*Edit* Just thought of another idea. We could all record a documentary type thing with mini figures talking into a camera. (that would go twords a project that everyone contributes to)

FOS ENTRY: Animation: 10% Done, Editing: 0% Done, Voice actors: 0%

Usually, everyone gets the script and audio, animates it, and then its all compiled together in one big movie, like this, my personal favorite Com Prog (Thats what I'm gonna call them. Deal with it)

Just one thing I'd recommend to anyone doing a Com Prog. You should probably make a new channel dedicated to the project and any others you make. You don't have to, its just that some people might not think its fair that all these people put a lot of hard work into this movie and one guy gets all the views. Just a suggestion.

Re: Bim Community Project

I'm sure if we asked Nathan Wells he would let us put it on the WeTheBrickfilmers channel, which was created for comprods. It would have to be very good though, with such a long gap since the last video it would have to be something special.

Personally, I'd love to do revive an old project (Boom di yata mini/smile  ) only if the people interested seem 100% devoted and not backing out at the last minute.

Boom de Ah Dah would be a good one to start out with. Its a ismpleone, but could also be great. The hardest part would be writing a version of the song that related to brickfilms. The filming process would be simple, just get all the participants to film some few second clips of there part of the song.

Ya, if you ask me, the summer would be the best time to do one of these. Since everyone is off school, its more likelty they will be devoted to the project

That's how it starts and that's how it ends.  People get superhyped during the summer, but when school starts, the interest dwindles.  That is why I emphasize 100% devotion, not seasonal devotion.  What seems to have worked is impromptu collaborations with a theme or story everyone can relate to, like The Day Brickfilms.com Died.  No months-long story development, no worries about copyright laws, just plain old fun animating your reaction to a community wide event.  Seems like such a once in a decade successful community project, purely circumstantial.

Whoa,i might do a scene for the project!!! mini/smile

however I just thought about how This Site has a whole bunch of different Members
all of them have a different animation style and Frame rate
I think one of the best part of animations like "Cleaning time" is that the animation looked like it was all done by the same animators
usily you wouldn't care about this. I'm sure that if you put a scene made by Filmyguy it next to a scene made by NXT Maniac it would look just fine
However If you put a scene made by Stan The Lego Man next to a more armature animator like myself, cooldynamitepictures or even LASF you would be able to see a difference in the frame rate, smoothness and "look and feal" of the videos.

just a thought. I still want to do something like this. mini/smile

Coyote Creek Films did not intend and hopes he didn't insult anyone in this post

I wouldn't be able to relate to that mini/sad

Funny Crazy Idea:
A random animator Named Bob (For lack of a better name) makes a horrible animation and posts it here
when the members give him criticism he becomes angry and turns into  an Evil Spam Bot.
the animators must then unite to purge the site from the tyranny of Spam
in the end BricksInMotion.com Becomes a Utopia and every animator is happy mini/smile

Wow that made even less sense when I typed it mini/XD

@cooldynamyteproductions sorry I knew your initials C.D.P. I had a fifty fifty chance and I chose wrong mini/sad

Re: Bim Community Project

If we get one going, the one I would want to do is Albuqerque.

Not literally dead, just no longer interested in Lego or animation.

Re: Bim Community Project

Sean had a great idea for a community project/contest a while back, I would be actually be interested in something like that happening. I think if we were to do a community project though, it would have to be something small scale that people could animate quickly and efficiently so no one loses interest.

Re: Bim Community Project

I would love to be a part of something like this, yet I agree with WelcomeToAwesoneness it needs to be small scale. Also I would love to make a brickfilm version of Boom de Ah Dah, to me it's simple enough for a community project because people could animate quickly and efficiently. Plus I may be able to write some of the lyrics.

I'm back, not like you guys cared

Re: Bim Community Project

I believe some people wanted to make a community project titled The Day BricksInMotion.com Crashed about a year ago. Something happened to the site, and I think a few members had temporary admin privileges. I was on vacation during the actual incident so I don't know exactly what happened, but I came back in time for the "aftermath". The idea got shot down because it was unoriginal, though.

Re: Bim Community Project

You know back when "The Day Brickfilms.com Crashed" was being made, everyone had a Logitech Webcam Pro 4000 or some similar 4MP camera, now people have LWP9000, T2i, Powershot, Nikon Coolpix, and Panasonic cameras.  And now because there has been such a leap between 4MP and 18MP quality it will be hard to keep the same photo quality throughout the film.

Re: Bim Community Project

I still Like my Idea mini/XD
It is simple and fun with a problem that everyone should be able to relate to.
but I will want to contribute to any Project that someone puts together.
if everyone has enough fun making the animations I think the difference in the camera quality will fade slightly.
we will only know if we try right? mini/smile

Re: Bim Community Project

I figured out what to do for my clips:
A minifigure(my sigfig),finds out that BiM closed,so he joins Mafia, and recruits other BiM members,as they sneak into the BiM base, and try to get the system back online.
In the end(wait,i don't want to spoil it!!!)...

Re: Bim Community Project

wait they all ready decided what the project is going to be! mini/jaw
must have missed that.

I already did that a looong time ago.

Have some copypaste. Feel free to edit the lyrics if you don't like them.

I love the LEGO bricks
I love to animate
I love to build cool sets
I love a good frame rate
I love to brickfilm
And all its ups and downs

Boom de ya da
Boom de ya da
Boom de ya da
Boom de ya da

I love to set it up
I love to break it down
I love the cameras
I'd love to build a town
I love to brickfilm
Even when I get it wrong!

Boom de ya da
Boom de ya da
Boom de ya da
Boom de ya da

I love the communities
I love to make up plots
I love creativity
I love the fancy shots
I love to brickfilm
But not how long it takes

Boom de ya da
Boom de ya da
Boom de ya da
Boom de ya da
Boom de ya da
Boom de ya da
Boom de ya da
Boom de ya da
Boom de ya da
Boom de ya da

Re: Bim Community Project

I'd be willing to organize a community project if enough people were already interested.

Just throwing that out there, not that anyone cares.

Re: Bim Community Project

Heh! That's funny - me and Stan where talking about this about two weeks ago on Skype and we were like "There'd be about ten people on scripting, ten people on animating, ten people on editing and lots of people on voice acting!" And then we came to the point that it'd be very hard to organize/actually make, since everyone have their own lazy ass. mini/tongue But otherwise, I think it'd be very interesting to do.
