Can you get it with Mac? And what does it exactly do?

Good.
Also, I've been having trouble actually downloading the student edition.
What happens is, when it's 99% complete, it stops.
The file is 3.09GB, when i'ts supposed to be 3.1GB.
Any thoughts?

That's weird. I downloaded it today without any problems. How long have you waited with it at 99%?

EDIT: Apparently it didn't download correctly. When I try to run the installer it tells my that some files may be corrupt and that I have to re-download it.

Autodesk has recently made a Macintosh version but it is not nearly as good as the Windows version due to the fact that it does not have all the features of the Windows version.

Re: The CGI Thread

I've been playing around with cycles recently, and i'm really liking what i'm seeing.  I'm gonna be testing how it works with lego bricks and maybe i can make something half as good as mali mini/XD

Looks pretty cool!
May I suggest some Mist?
I think it would make the ground plane look nicer around the edges.

Re: The CGI Thread

How do you get the LEGO bricks to look so good? mini/eek What program are you getting them from?

Re: The CGI Thread

i'm importing the bricks from leocad, but once you import them, there's a few more steps:
join all the bricks togther (unless you're gonna be animating some of them, in which case, leave those seperate)
tab into edit mode and hit ctl+n to recalculate the normals.
set the shading to smooth
add a bevel modifier and set the value to .002
add an edge split modifier

Bevel!!! Ah I should have thought of that. That is why my building all looked like one block. Thanks so much!!!!

to make them walk I just cut their legs in half...
see...

might be able to do the same with Blender or something.

Re: The CGI Thread

You are quite right.
I've successfully rigged and animated a Loge battle droid in Blender.

Re: The CGI Thread

Looking pretty good Stan, I would only suggest to add a bit of glossiness/specularity/shine (or whatever it might be called in that renderer) to the materials to make them look more like plastic. The depth of field and lighting look pretty convincing, just get rid of the noise mini/sunnies

I can't even log in to the Autodesk website now, it keeps telling me that my password is incorrect (even after I changed it). I hope it's  temporary problem.

Re: The CGI Thread

I just imported some LeoCAD models into Blender and added some effects to get this:

http://oi54.tinypic.com/20ush0i.jpg

I used indirect lighting on the lamps and set the emit to 30. I attempted to add light from the moon with a light-blue sun, but I'm not exactly sure if it looks good. It's by no means perfect, but it's just a little test.

P.S. I used StanTheLegoMan's awesome tip. mini/delirium
