I wish they'd make a film, and a reasonably long film, with little, or preferably no dialogue, and still convey some sort of good story and some memorable characters and emotions.
That would be so great.

Then I think you're gonna like my film. It hasn't got any dialog, but has quite a bit of adventure and action. I don't really like films with loads of dialog either, it might as well be live action.
My film for this was originally going to be about my great granddad's WW2 diary. He used 4 notebooks (I have all the originals, it's a miracle they're still in one piece!), and he served as a gunner in Africa somewhere. I really like the idea of this as a film, but I don't think lego and war really go together very well.
I'm a little worried that my entry may be a tad boring though. I think it's going to be close to 15 minutes, but there isn't really anything I can cut out. The action mainly comes towards the end too, but I still think it's going to be good. The animation and sets are my best ever. Imagine trying to make a 13 minute long animation, all shot at 20fps. I'm guessing that there's nearly 20,000 frames in mine, and I've done about 65% of that in the last few weeks. I'm taking a big break once this is over.

Re: BiM 2011: TOY [CLOSED]

I myself, think, had way too much dialogue in my pirate movie. xD
Seriously. At least I had some action though.

No talking sounds cool. mini/smile
Especially if it's to focus on action.

Re: BiM 2011: TOY [CLOSED]

I'm thinking of adding a little Texas Chainsaw Massacre feel to my entry, I definitely want to scare you guys.

Re: BiM 2011: TOY [CLOSED]

YES DO IT

Re: BiM 2011: TOY [CLOSED]

Okay, I made the witch campgrounds covered in bones and ripped up decal flesh covered in red maple syrup. this is great.

Yeah, I agree. When I do films with talking, I try to put in at least dialouge as possible. In fact, my planned entry to this contest had no dialouge. I ended up not making it because I couldn't finish Bricks: Episode 1 and still have enough time to make an entry.

I don't think your pirate movie had too much talking. It was okay, even though the word "guys" was used too much, and it felt out of place with the time period. Besides, it showed your great voice acting ability.

Re: BiM 2011: TOY [CLOSED]

MINE SHALL BE UP SOON!

Re: BiM 2011: TOY [CLOSED]

Yeah, I guess I did use "guys" a lot. xD
I think it work well for Sam's Japan line, though.

Anyway, I'm seriously looking forward to FilmFire's thing. It's 20 FPS? and if it's about as long as mine, that'll be double my frames.
I'm hoping it will blow Pirates Rule! out of the water.

Re: BiM 2011: TOY [CLOSED]

I just watched Monty Python and the Holy Grail and now I'm feeling regret because I didn't make a video for this contest with all those left-over knights minifigs that I bought for "Merlin's Robot." mini/sad
Too bad. I guess I should have thought of it earlier.

Heck, It's not going to blow anything out of the water! I'm still pretty happy with it, but I re-watched a bit of your film today and realised how bad mine is compared to it. I really feel like I should have tried to put more comedy in my film, but without dialog it is a bit harder.
And yeah, it is 20FPS. I think I'm going to be using 2FPS for my next film in order to steer away from the road of insanity.

I do hope I get it done in time though, It's about 12 minutes at the moment (I did cut some bits out so it flows a bit better). It's got fights, sword fights, a tiny bit with a shark, treasure, a tiny bit with a boulder, cannibals, and loads more. It's got everything a pirate film should have except 'walking the plank'. After some research I found that it was actually quite rare for a pirate to walk the plank.

Re: BiM 2011: TOY [CLOSED]

I actually heard about that.
Only one real pirate has ever walked the plank (I think), but due to it being in Peter Pan, it just started becoming a sort of viral thing, and everyone thinks that pirates always made people walk the plank. xD
It's still reflects pirate punishments pretty well though, they had all kinds of horrible things which they used to do.

Re: BiM 2011: TOY [CLOSED]

"Wouldn't be a for real pirate picture lessin' someone walks the plank." -Huckelberry Hound, in "Jolly Roger and Out"

I wonder where that came from, then.

Yeah, the place "guys" fit best was in Sam's line. The place it fit the worst was when Admiral Broadside used it.
Actually, I think Pirates Rule! is a pretty good film. Only a few little things wrong with it, but otherwise it's good.

(Speaking of "good", that word was used a lot as well. But I didn't mind, it was mostly said by Broadside, anyway. When one charater uses a word frequently, it's okay.)

Got another 1,000+ frames done today, entry is lookin' groovy! I showed my little sister a preview - she's pretty freaked out by the pigs.

Re: BiM 2011: TOY [CLOSED]

It looks like Jargon is out of it, unless he is developing his film in complete secret. I was really looking forward to it to. mini/sad
