I'm not going to post reviews in this thread any-more because I'm probably really offending fans of the show. If you like the show - that's awesome. Good on you for actually enjoying something in life. But I just dont like the way the show is going. I think Series 6 is an improvement over Series 5, but I really cannot put my finger on why I dont like the new era other than I hate the writing. Moffat definitely has a smaller ego than RTD, and I feel like I should prefer Moffat over RTD, but I dont.
I think I'm still really disappointed that Moffat has not made another 'Blink' or another 'The Girl in the Fireplace'. I think he's best at writing the episodes in-between the main story-arc, which go off into a separate self-contained storyline which contains genuine fear and emotion. Obviously, as head-writer, you cant do that. Plus, I think the guest-writers are terrible. The only episode that had any kind of emotion and depth (IMO) was 'Vincent and the Doctor', and that's because it was written by the legendary Richard Curtis (who has written three of my favourite British Sitcoms: Blackadder, The Vicar of Dibley, and Mr Bean). Even then, I didn't think 'Vincent and the Doctor' was as good as my favourites from the RTD era (the ending IMO made the whole episode seem really redundant, and the mutant chicken monster was.....stupid. But anything containing Bill Nighy is worth my time)
But, the reason I'm not going to post any reviews in this thread any-more is because I just repeat what I have said over and over and over and over and over again. And its obvious I'm not ever going to write a positive review because as much as I try to like the Moffat-era, it just cant seem to do any right for me (yet). I dont want to spoil anyone's fun, and I'm sure everyone is sick of me saying "THAT WAS THE WORST EPISODE OF DOCTOR WHO I HAVE EVAR SEEN IN MY LIFE!1!!111!" when they actually really liked it (again: nothing wrong with that). I feel like I'm trolling, which is something I dont want to do.
So, most likely I wont post in this thread again. I'll continue watching the show - but since any pain caused by it will be self-inflicted, I wont share it here. I'll either moan about it on Twitter, or I'm considering doing Video reviews (I might even do reviews of my most hated episodes from Series 5).
That being said, I may talk about the upcoming 'Torchwood' if its any good....
