Re: The CGI Thread

Conceptual design. Not much yet, but it's a start. Not sure if this will be used in actual footage or I turn it in to a scale model.

Re: The CGI Thread

Wow that looks amazing! There is just one thing you could do. Maybe adding some dirt / scratch / welt. But only if the figure shouldn't look new.

Re: The CGI Thread

Wow, I like the texture on the silver pieces.  The blurry reflections and the way the axehead reflects the environment are really convincing.

Re: The CGI Thread

ta. there's actually no texture on the axe, just the way the material looks. I've thought about adding a bump map but i've been told it's quite slow to render. ZP this was made in maya rendered with mental ray.

Re: The CGI Thread

Maybe adding some DOF to the scene .. and no one will recognize that it is CGI!

Seems like a neat program, however, when it comes to my talent for creating special FX I'm a bit of a two-watt bulb.  If this is easy enough to figure out I might give it a shot.

Thanks for the tip Builder Brothers.

Re: The CGI Thread

Hey, is it true you could use a model file from a Steam Game as an animate-able character in Blender or something?

http://i.imgur.com/Q9NCUnx.png

Re: The CGI Thread

I don't think you could to even get close to removing a model from the game.
Everything on Steam is so anti-piracy that it would be fairly impossible.

Re: The CGI Thread

Yes. It is completely true Golden.

Re: The CGI Thread

Oh. Thanks. If it is considered piracy, though, I won't do it.
