Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Its kind of like Tim Curry and Adam West/Burt Ward trying desperately to be taken seriously again....

But, I haven't seen the movie - so for all I know I could look at David Schwimmer in a completely different light after seeing it.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

I don't think Schwimmer's stigma as Ross has impacted him too much to be honest. At least he's in a better position than George from seinfeld.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

The Tree of Life

Pretty ballsy. Not sure if I like the ending, but as a whole it's pretty mesmerizing.

Good, but VERY unrealistic.

Spoiler (click to read)

First, what are the odds that Madam Zeroni's great-great whatever grandson meets up with that Stanley Yelnats I's great-great whatever grandson in that special camp? And not only do they meet up, but they both run away, and go to that very same mountain where they were suppose to go. Also, Stanley carries Zero up the mountain, and makes Zero drink from a river, and sings that song, all unknowingly like his great whatever grandpa was suppose to. And wouldn't ya know, they eat peaches and onions, which has NO smell whatsoever (what's up with that?), but their parents find that out too, right after they find that out. And of course, that makes the lizards not bite them. It makes NOOO sense.

Read the original book.

Also it's fiction things are often unrealistic in fiction.

Spoiler (click to read)

Madam Zeroni is a witch, but you believed that point? She can make pigs bigger by magic, but that's ok?  Some co-incidences aren't?

I loved the book when I read it though so I think my love extends to the movie by virute. I may be biased. (Great book though)

You're seriously saying that about a film that deals with mysterious curses? Of COURSE it's going to be unrealistic if it deals with elements like that.

95% of the movies I can think of are better than At World's End.

I don't make Brickfilms. I trade virtual hats.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Trust me - there are a LOT of movies worse than At World's End. There is a whole world of terrible public-domain material, awful Hollywood schlock, failed art-house, crummy B-Movies (although some of them are really entertaining), p0rno spoofs, 70's/80's exploitation, obscure independent horror, Asylum movies, anything by Bruno Mattei, and Z-Grade martial arts movies out there. At Worlds End IMO has its redeeming qualities...

X-Men First Class

OK - I have only ever seen a few episodes of the cartoon (and all I remember is Beast, Dr X, Wolverine and that awesome theme tune). From what I have heard, X1 is OK, X2 is also OK, X3 is not very good, and 'Wolverine' sucks (FROM WHAT I HAVE HEARD. I COULD BE COMPLETELY WRONG - AND I AM NOT JUDGING THESE MOVIES BY THEIR PRESS. I JUST HAVE'NT GOT AROUND TO WATCHING THEM YET)

Really, I watched this because it was an Orange Wednesday and there was nothing else good on. So I didn't really have an expectations. Apart from minor annoyance caused by watching the Transformers 3 trailer.....twice (the projectionist was an idiot - he even forgot to turn the lights on at the end so everyone had to stumble around in the dark to get out), I was fairly content. However, I really enjoyed it.

The dialogue was cheesy. There is the typical "Their fear will turn to anger" kind of stuff (insert Yoda reference here), and there was a really dramatic moment completely ruined:

Spoiler (click to read)

Eriks mother gets shot - and Erik screams "NNNNNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAEIN!!!"

Is that not the most hilarious thing ever? At first I thought it was just a scream of anger as he goes crazy with his powers, but then he suddenly ends it with "-EIN!!" Its the ultimate twist to the "NNNOOOO" cliché, I want that to play every-time I get a text...

I felt really bad for laughing out loud at such a dramatic moment - and I was the only one who did - but that made my year...

Also, the FBI Woman could not act. Its a shame, because apart from her the acting was excellent.

Overall: I thought it was good. Not the best of the year, but your better off seeing this instead of 'The Green Lantern'.

The best special effects i have ever seen.
A lot of action, it is an explosion every 8th minute.

There's only one 8th minute.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

UHF

It definitely wasn't as bad as it could have been, but I don't think it really lived up to my expectations, either. Besides that, it was still enjoyable.

Super 8
Loved it, a really great film. The characters were done really well, and I found myself more interested in whether they'd get their movie made and Joe and Alice's relationship than I was in the alien, although that was done well too. And man, that traincrash was intense. I think I liked it so much because it reminded me a lot of my own childhood and made me feel like a kid again.

X-Men: First Class
A really good superhero film. Easily the best X-Men film so far, if not the best Marvel film so far. Everything from the other films fitted together nicely, but didn't feel forced.

It was good, but, my nerdy side must point out what others have missed:

(This is a pretty big spoiler)

Proffessor X gets paralised!! WTF. In X3, there is a flashback of him OLD, and BALD, yet he is WALKING.

DIE. DIE YOU HORRIBLE DIRECTOR/WRITER/WHATEVER FOR NOT STICKING TO YOUR OWN CONTINUITY.

But apart from that, good.
