Super 8
Loved it, a really great film. The characters were done really well, and I found myself more interested in whether they'd get their movie made and Joe and Alice's relationship than I was in the alien, although that was done well too. And man, that traincrash was intense. I think I liked it so much because it reminded me a lot of my own childhood and made me feel like a kid again.

Thanks for spoiling the movie for me. mini/rolleyes

You can begin from there. I saw that movie too, btw.

Terminator
It was...not bad. There were some scenes that I think they could have avoided to shot, and I didn't like the soundtrack a lot. But it was a fine movie. Entertaining.

Il Caimano
Italian movie. It was awesome, from my point of view. Many people says it could have been better without the "political parts". But I think it is just perfect this way. The acting was spectacular, poi, Nanni Moretti, sebbene per pochi minuti, riesce a farsi notare come attore importante nel film.

Terminator 2
This was better than the first one. It rarely happens, in filmmaking history. The Special effects were amazing. I liked it.

Sorry for being "that guy", but I think of plenty of sequels that are better than the first:

The Empire Strikes Back, The Dark Knight, The Wrath of Khan, Before Sunset, The Godfather (Part II), X-Men 2, Bride of Frankenstein, Legend of the Drunken Master, Evil Dead II, Aliens, Spider-Man 2, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, The Silence of the Lambs, etc.

And those are only "Part 2's".

Aliens

Meh, I thought Alien was better, the second isn't scary at all, it's just them blowing aliens up. In the first there was just one, which was really hard to kill, which I liked. They seem really easy to kill in the second one because they have guns.
It would be better if you like guns, action, etc, but I personally like films which have you scared more. mini/wink Just my opinion though, Aliens was still quite good.

I saw a film at the week end, the name escapes me. Wasn't very good. About a woman whose husband dies, then she wakes up and he's alive, and she tries to stop his death. Quite boring, long drawn out.
The ending was stupid too. I laughed a bit, it was so weird and stupid. We should of watched Hot Fuzz.
I really want to see Super 8, I've liked the look of it for a bit. Hopefully I'll see it when it comes out here, from the sounds of what everyone's said it sounds really cool.

I don't think Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets it's better than the first one, and actually The Silence of the Lamb was the first Hannibal movie directed and the first book that was written, so I wouldn't count that as a sequel. For the rest, I can't tell, I haven't seen any of them (except for The Empire Strikes Back, X-Men 2 and Spider-man2, and you are right there). I will watch the Godfather trilogy, and Aliens. But most of the sequels I know, aren't really better than the first one.

Edit: By "Wrath of Kahn" you mean Star Trek? If so, I prefer the first one.

I think Chamber of Secrets works better than The Sorcerer's Stone. The (younger) actors are more comfortable in their roles (and acting in general), it plays out more as the series progresses, and feels more serious as a whole.

I'm pretty sure Hannibal Lecter's first appearance was in the novel Red Dragon. Michael Mann directed Manhunter (1986), which was based on the novel.

I've watched it a few times, but I've never enjoyed Star Trek: The Motion Picture. Wrath of Khan may be my favorite Star Trek film. There's so much going on between Kirk and Khan. I love how they never actually meet in person during the film.

You're right, my bad. For the rest, those are my opinions, and honestly it's been some time since I last saw the Star Trek series, and even more time Harry Potter, but as far as I can tell, I remember liking the first movie of both series more than the first sequel. I agree though that both aren't the best movies of the whole saga.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

I watching Austin Power and the Goldmember right now.

Even now, the VFX are baffling!

It was good, but, my nerdy side must point out what others have missed:

(This is a pretty big spoiler)

Proffessor X gets paralised!! WTF. In X3, there is a flashback of him OLD, and BALD, yet he is WALKING.

DIE. DIE YOU HORRIBLE DIRECTOR/WRITER/WHATEVER FOR NOT STICKING TO YOUR OWN CONTINUITY.

But apart from that, good.

8/10

Spoiler (click to read)

Couldn't the flashback in The Last Stand have taken place during the recruiting montage in First Class? They were trying to make Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen look younger with special effects, so maybe it's more of a special effects fail than a continuity fail.

Also, Matthew Vaughn (who directed First Class) wasn't involved with The Last Stand, so it's not his continuity in the first place.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

I am now watching Wayn's World mini/XD

Actually a good movie, better than I remembered. Can't wait for the sequel, it's doing pretty good on Rotten Tomatoes.

Poor Cars 2. Won't stand a chance against Rango. About time someone other than Pixar gets recognition.

SURELY you don't mean the MASTERPIECE by Don Bluth?

Oh, and I just saw True Grit (2010) at the theater, which just reopened with AWESOME stadium seating. mini/cat

I agree with the rest of your list that I've seen, which are all of them except for Wrath of Khan and Legend of the Drunken Master.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Secret of Nimph is a GREAT cartoon. I believe Don Bluth also was the maker of Land Before Time right? which I also really enjoy. The color schemes in his films are so more true to the feeling of the film then Disney flicks.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Titan AE was also a great Don Bluth. It was a very gritty story set in the future. Yet it was still cartoony enough to be called a kids film. I could see the story with an R-rating, but Bluth pulled it off pretty well as a family-flick.
But sometimes, it felt a little too kiddy. They say "we got our butts kicked" when the mood really should have "we really got an ass-whooping there". But it is still one of my favorites.

Odd coincidence..

I watched the trailer for Titan AE last night on my X-Men dvd...
