By the title it doesn't sound very organized. If it's re-creating a movie, the one: Mod Element? Being a re-creation contest there might be debate about using Moderation elements and then Pre-Made movies could be entered. And I was hoping for a themed contest. And it seems like they have already announced that. Also, both the members you said aren't exactly Senior members, well neither am I. But especially Anteater, people need to get to know you before you throw out some contest. Then people will know who's managing it.
I would like a BRAWL.
I can admit I have been a little hastey at times with forum posts and such, and I'm very sorry for that (I guess I'm still a newbie) that's why I thought JP should hold the contest and I judge because I don't think I have enough respect yet to post a contest. I am glad you said this BindingBricks!
I'm all for BRAWL. Just so long as It's held in late August/early September because I have to go back to school after that.
Not too badly off topic but, I feel there should be more contests on BiM. The whole BiM 2011 ordeal is a mistake. I mean half a year to make a contest entry!? Crazy. This is why only 10-15 people enter it each year unlike THAC, which gets 80-90 entries. It's duration people. THAC makes you think hard to get a film done in time, so did the Septemberfest. The Septemberfest brought out some of the best films I've ever seen. Avant-Garde made me see too many simple Brick-Mations or a bunch of LEGO's dancing around on a screen. That's been done before. As for Zombie: Genesis, that was nothing but the theme, NickDurron was probably the only one that kept the theme correct. Other's interpreted it I feel the in wrong way. I feel that TOY should of been 2-3 months long, not half a year, people loose interest and then make a last minute entry that has no story line what so ever. I think that if we can make contests shorter then better films will be made. Yes, it's proven.
I think its good that there are these half year long contests because it gives a chance for people to come up with long, developed plots and stuff. Of course it does attract a lot of trashy brickfilms too.
A BRAWL would be good... I don't like so much the idea of making another Septemberfest. August will be the right month ![]()
I have to say I agree with some of what the others are saying, the TOY contest is too long, I've been just leaving things too long and then losing motivation then having to get a lot of animation done to generate motivation, if motivation = better animation. I think something like THAC or BRAWL is better for actually thinking and planning and that the 7 month duration of TOY is just too much and after a while you sort of los3 motivation and therefore get crappy animation.
Oddly enough I agree whole heartedly with what's being said here. BRAWL & THAC are the best BiM contests, really. I think the official BiM contests are great in some ways because it encourages people to make longer, and frankly, better films, however I think that they do go on to long. Now in some ways that's the entrants fault for being so fickle, but I do think the contests charm wares off.
Personally, I'd say keep the annual contests (Whilst cutting their duration), make THAC a Bi-Annual thing, have about 3 BRAWLs with smaller prizes, have the Septemberfest in september (Obviously), and do Holiday themed contest as well - i.e EASTER.
This may seem like a lot, which it is, however I think that having a variety is handy. And this doesn't mean that they all have to be hosted by Smeagol, Sean, or NXT, rather, any member can host them, as long as they can get hold of prizes & are fairly good organisers.
Thoughts?
I would like to see another BRAWL happen this year, although since I've been very inactive on this site for over a year, I don't think that I would be the best host for another one because I might end up forgetting about the contest completely. Plus I remember that judging took me too long with the last one, which ended up causing a bit of a controversy, and I'd rather not have that happen again. Ideally, I'd like BRAWL to be hosted by someone that would organize and run it better than I would, and who is a lot more active on this site than I am. If anyone does wants to host it, feel free to pm me or email me at [email protected] and we can discuss it. If all else fails I might host it. If I did host it, the contest would definitely be in either late July or sometime in August, depending on when I'm going on vacation. Once the summer ends I'm going to be too busy with school and other things to host it myself.

That's actually the best time for me.
I agree with the BRAWL and THAC thing...and I am definitely a fan of month long contests. Also I think that with many smaller contests, more people have a chance to win because of the amount of contests and also many contests sorda ''bunched'' up together in time keep BIM more active and lively! It keeps the community going and not losing there interest in brickfilming because I kinda get board orking on one big entry that's not very knew after a few weeks.

I'm all for a second Septemberfest.
So I can make myself get started on Small World 2.

Septemberfest would be fun to relive., but how about a July or August festival instead, most people start school in September and this makes things difficult.
I could be wrong but I don't think Sean wants to host the contest in either case. We were considering the possibility of a BRAWL contest, though. Septemberfest was not as successful as we had hoped for last year in regards to quality and quantity of entries. We might consider forgoing any official contest and just have better prizes for the next THAC instead.

Better prizes for the THAC would be nice.
Yeah, Yeah, Yeah...
Awesome thinking, Love to read these posts.
