Hello all!
got inspired by some of the brickfilms I've seen so I've tried some brickfilming using a digital camera (basic minifig manipulation such as walking/running/turning etc.). However it a. is not mine; b. is a bit of a hassle getting it to stay still (so some bumps now and then) and c. I've read that digital cameras are not really made for brickfilming because the shutter wears down pretty quickly. So now I'm looking for a nice starter model webcam.
So I've got some questions:
1. The "native resolution" BertL is referring to is the 'hardware resolution' you see advertised on some of these models, right?
2. I've seen that Monkeyjam will allow you to set the whitebalance on a camera input, does this mean that a webcam does not need to have manual whitebalance because monkeyjam allows you to set it manually? Eg. monkeyjam controls the whitebalance and you do not have to edit every frame you take to set the whitebalance correctly
3. Any suggestions for (relatively cheap) webcam models that will do the job for someone just trying to make some first animations?
Also: I've read some conflicting information on the Logitech Webcam Pro 9000, some say it's just the same as the popular Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000, others think it's worse. Apparantly it comes down to this: the webcam and quickcam are the same device (same hardware) but the webcam gets shipped with newer software that removes some control from the user: no manual white balance but automatic white balance, resulting in light flickering when doing stop motion animation. Is it necessary to get the older software (couldn't find it on the logitech site), or will using Monkeyjam solve this problem (see 2)?
