The Moustached Magician

On my channel
On Onion's channel
A park full of happy people is an ideal place for a mischievous Magician. Or is it...?This was an entry to the Smoovie competition, and was also a co-production between myself and Onion. Completed over two weeks, I did the animation, while he worked on the sound and stuff mini/tongue. A very fun undertaking, I hope everyone viewing also enjoys. If you manage to find and name both of my cameos, and name where the magician is from, you may find a cookie being delievered to your doorstep.
EDIT: You may want to know that those fancy effects were done by Stan.

Re: The Moustached Magician an entry to "SMOOVIE"

Twas brilliant. mini/smile The kissing animation looked amazingly smooth and real, though, a little disturbing because of that. xD Good concept and execution.
The only problem would be the set detail coulda been at a higher level of niceness, and the sky background drop off was a bit tooooo close. But it's a cool film. mini/smile
I think I'm subscribing.

Re: The Moustached Magician an entry to "SMOOVIE"

Great entry you two. I loved the cartoony animation, it made the whole film fun. I'm not really a reviewer, but I think:

Animation
Well animated, nothing at all seemed bad. Apart from a little flicker it was fine (I can talk though, some of mine looks like someones firing a machine gun in the background!) 7/10
Story
Short and sweet really. Reminded me of an old cartoon or Morph animation. 7/10
Effects
Stan did a great job, I loved the smoke and fire. It was really good, looked realistic. 8/10
Sound
I enjoyed the music at the start and beginning. The background music was perfect. Onion did well on the sound work too. 8/10

Overall I gave it a 4/5. Some better sets (i.e a road with cars going by in the background) would have helped, but I didn't miss them too much. Good work guys! mini/wink

Yeah, I was thinking that myself. mini/XD

YAH! Woo hoo! Thanks.
Anyway, regarding the set, I know the sky backdrop was a little iffy, it's because I've rolled it into a cylinder before and it got wrinkled, also, I was afraid of overcrowding the set, which would allow for less movement and would take viewer's attention away from what's actually going on, I wanted it nice and simple. mini/smile

Anyway, thanks for the feedback guys!

I REALLY LIKED THIS! The animation was very nice (you have drastically improved jstudios), the story was classic, and the sound design was epic. I really enjoyed this film, I think that it is the leader so far in this contest!

Thanks everyone. mini/smile
If anyone's wondering, whenever I did a fast camera motion, I put the camera where I needed it then shook it back and forth to give it a realistic motion blur without having to use post-production.

Lovely to hear the feedback. I'm especially pleased to hear such nice things about the sound and story;

Onion did well on the sound work too. 8/10

the story was classic, and the sound design was epic.

Here's a photo of all the layers of sound on my editing program, actually, in case you're interested.

I'm using that same method a lot in my current film "How to Not Rob a Bank" :D It's such a useful technique. And it has amazing possibilities for action sequences.

Re: The Moustached Magician an entry to "SMOOVIE"

Awesome! mini/bigsmile
I'd say 9/10.
Oh, Onion, what editing program is that?
I don't recognize it.

Re: The Moustached Magician an entry to "SMOOVIE"

I'm pretty sure the magician is from Onion's 'Mouse' film.
As I said earlier, I really like this, it was really fun.
