Re: What was the last movie you watched?

The whole indy vibe was gone, that's what was wrong with it. The cgi took care of that.

Unforgiven

Catching up on the Eastwood collection. He's really a great film maker. This one is pretty different from other westerns too, it was something you had to think about, which was nice. Not just a shoot'em up fun time. Also, Clint Eastwood is the original bad ass.

Agreed.

Words cannot describe how much I loved this. Jumped right into my top ten.

It's more of an anti-western. It's a really great movie.

The Italian Job

Pretty good. Stereotypical but good.

So yeah, I'm back from my mind.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Jurassic Park III, the movie is my childhood.

10/10

I hope the 4th will live up to the other 3.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

II and III didn't live up to I, IMO.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

The Silent Witness
Decent film, nice courtroom scenes.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Nine

This kinda reminded me of a play I saw a few days ago: 'Onassis'. Its a confusion of two genres (musical and character-driven drama - though 'Onassis' had goofy humour and greek tragedy) that just DON'T go together at all. At least 'Onassis' had Robert Lindsay doing an awesomely bad dance....this is just stupid.

No, its not stupid.....its just silly and incoherent. Its like if I took 'Memento' and inter cut it with 'The Sound of Music'. Its a shame because the cinematography is excellent, and the musical numbers are really well choreographed....and there's one scene where the inter cutting with the music actually fits what else is going on, but the rest of it just doesn't work at all.

I loved it.

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World

Not half bad, definitely fun and enjoyable. Some of the visuals were a little too intense for their own good (the constant light flashing during the fight scenes forced me to look away from the screen every few seconds), and the pacing was pretty inconsistent, but I liked a lot of the film's humor. And heck, even Michael Cera was slightly more tolerable than usual.

Audition
mini/eek Not what I expected in a good way. Weird, but really awesome film. Takashi Miike has balls!
Wolf creek
Loved it. One of my favorite 'real' horror movies. Very suspensful and effectively creepy. I've seen way too many horror movies to be actually scared at one, but this is one of the few exceptions.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Karate Kid (re-make)
and a horrible re-make at that. The only thing I liked was that the kid was actually buff.

Holy Sh*t! THIS FILM IS AWESOME. I just watched it for the first time and I am completely blown away. I love Dario Argento <3

The sound of someone breathing in that movie quite possibly terrified me more than anything else I've even seen in a film. Also, I love watching that movie for the colors alone.

Agreed on III; II is a personal favorite of mine, but that's partly because I love Jeff Goldblum so dang much, and partly because I've got a weird ritual of quoting it with my brothers ...

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1

I saw it at 7:00 p.m. with my brothers. The theatre was packed - college kids behind us, young kids in front.

I thought it was pretty damn good. This movie, coupled with Part 2 (assuming they don't screw something up, which I doubt) could be one of the most well-realized of the adaptations yet. Of course that is partly due to having the proper space in which to tell the story for a change.

Speaking of the proper space, I wasn't annoyed by the pace at all. Frankly, the last couple of Potter movies have seemed rushed to me - as if each scene barrels into the next. This movie slowed it down, allowed for some more character moments/atmosphere.

My favorite parts:

The polyjuice potion scene in the Ministry. The actors they got for the Ministry lackeys were brilliant. The sheer bloody hilarity of the look about the guy Ron turned into (yet he could look bedraggled and worried), the quivering lip of the Harry replacement, the worry in the eyes of the woman going down in the elevator with Umbridge. That whole scene was just great.

The animated sequence. It was just damned cool.

The score and the cinematography. The scenery was well-chosen and well-showcased.

My theatre had two unified reactions. One was during the trailers, when the Cowboys and Aliens title popped up. I jumped! people hooted so uproariously.

The other was when

Dobby died. A lot of people (older and younger voices) actually cried out his name.

Aside from that, there was a lot of laughing going on. I dunno if it was just because I haven't gone to see a Potter movie in the actual theatre in a while, or if they upped the humor, but there seemed to be quite a few amusing moments.

Overall, I had a great time. I am now super-psyched for Part 2.

Hah, same here. I was surprised to find out how disliked the second was.

Yep, you'll love it, it's one of those movies where you "wauw" at the end with the first viewing.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

just yesterday i saw harry potter and the deathly hallows. i hated how you could tell the ending was coming near. i also hated the part where it went all cartooned when Hermione told the story about the deathly hallows. but i still loved the movie! it was amazing! can't wait for the next one to come in theaters. i might read the book again for the fourth time...

Then just last night i watched Fly Away Home. i liked it- and it was based off a true story.

I recommend both movies!

Eh, I wasn't too sure about that. It didn't seem to fit at all with the rest of the movie. It would have been very pretty on its own, but it just didn't seem to work as part of the whole. The other bit that stuck out was

the dancing scene

but it just worked for some reason.

I felt like I'd seen the movie before, because I'd read the book. It was just how I'd imagined it when reading.

(Also, Daniel Radcliffe is buff stuff.)
