Re: Books!

Started reading American Psycho today.

Re: Books!

Speaking of reading books, I had a question for y'all: does anyone have an eReader for reading eBooks? I think the Kindle would be the most popular in America, not sure about Europe. We don't have too many choices here in Oz and they are still kinda expensive but they seem like a good idea to me.

Re: Books!

I don't think you'd want to read a whole book on your computer tbh.

Re: Books!

Well that's the point of an eReader. Devices like the Kogan eReader, the Kobo and the Amazon Kindle use what is called e-ink screens and the idea is that because the screen is not backlit, there is much less eye strain.

More like reading a regular book. They are built so you can read them outside in bright sunlight (which is hard to do with most cell phones) but you can't read them in the dark.

The idea being that you can have hundreds (or thousands) of books on the device and you just carry one device.

I was just wondering if anyone had any first-hand experience with one.

Re: Books!

I'm reading 'Million Dollar baby' by F.X. Toole. The stories are really nicely written so far, you don't even have to like boxing to love these stories mini/smile
I recommend  it to anyone.

Re: Books!

In the past 3 weeks, I've read...

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

and

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

Currently I'm reading Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

So far, I think the series is brilliant. My favorite book that I've read from it so far would be Prisoner of Azkaban. My least favorite would be Chamber of Secrets...but that doesn't mean I didn't like it, I really enjoyed, don't get me wrong. It's just the one I /least/ enjoyed.

Re: Books!

I don't think you can appreciate them unless you've had to wait years for each consecutive book. Maybe I'm just nostalgic.

My recent reading list:

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (Mark Twain)
Maggie: A Girl of the Streets (Stephen Crane)
The Turn of the Screw (Henry James)
The Awakening (Kate Chopin)
The Big Sky (A.B Guthrie)
Runaway Horses (Yukio Mishima)
Patriotism (Yukio Mishima)
Sun and Steel (Yukio Mishima)
Notes on the Cinematographer (Robert Bresson)

Re: Books!

hehe, I didn't buy them all at once. In fact I collected them as they came out, but never read them. mini/XD
