Seeing Double

Though essentially a chick-flick, its more for younger girls. Which means I hated it - obviously.

However, its always hilarious to see Hollywood shooting what they think England looks like. And of course, all English people live in London, communicate via red phone boxes with over-the-top accents ("I say old chap, you couldnt russle me up some old Pheasant what-what!") drive around in Taxis, wear Tweed jackets, drink Tea and wines with stupidlty long names, and of course - EVERYONE has a butler mini/rolleyes

Antichrist

This movie is one big trip, a nightmare. And I loved it.
Don't expect any entertainment level from this film though.
If your into Lars Von Trier his work, you'll probably like it.

Awesome. Bruce Lee is badass, the fight scenes were great. I loved the afroguy, he was awesome.
4/5 awesome.

Alice In Wonderland

Not a Tim Burton masterpiece, I suspect he couldn't do, and had to do some stuff for Disney.

Spoiler (click to read)

especially the ridiculous Mad Hatter dance and the Avril Lavigne end song mini/confused

Although it's a recognizable Tim Burton film and is fairly enjoyable.
Although some conversations were lame... especially in the end.

Badass. Not as good as the first two. Still an awesome movie though.

The action-car/motorycle chases are AWESOME. Mel Gibson is BADASS.

Story may seem kinda boring, but it really pays off with an awesome action scene you'll never can't forget because of it's pure awesomness.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Clash of the Titans (2010)

Overall I would describe this film as standard, run-of-the-mill fantasy fare, with little about it to excite aside from the special effects, which alone do not a good movie make. The script must have been very brief, as it seemed to exist solely to get the characters to the next scene in which something very large tried to end their !@#$. To be frank, I do not like Sam Worthington as a lead. There's just nothing about him that excites me in any way, and he spent the movie smoldering vaguely. Also, on occasion he made it sound as though he were still in Australia, not Greece.

I am damn glad I didn't pay to see it in 3D. I can think of no compelling reason to see an hour and a half of Sam Worthington's fuzzy head coming right at me.

I really don't ever need to see this a second time.

Payback
Not amazing, a lot of fun though.
Over the top noirish action film.
If you like die hard, you'll like this. (Although it's not a patch on Die Hard)
And Mel Gibson really is a midget, hidden mostly in this film except for one hysterically unfortunate shot which I tried desperately to find a freezeframe of, but failed. Evidently they forgot the box he normally stands on when he's shot next to someone.

The Ghost Writer

I saw this a while ago, forgot to post it here. A good little conspiracy thriller, well-made and well-told. I, unfortunately, had to commit personal sacrilege and walk out a few minutes before the end because I had to be somewhere, but I looked up the ending and I don't think I would have seen it coming. I kinda wish I had taken the extra few minutes and watched it through to the end, but ah well.

How to Train Your Dragon

A solid flick, much better than I expected. The 98% on RottenTomatoes is a bit unjustified, and while the plot is nothing ground-breaking, it tells its story tactfully and features some really impressive 3D sequences (sound familiar, anyone?). The writing also surprised me a bit; it did sort of fall victim to typical genre conventions, but did show a few glimpses of narrative brilliance. Also, more animated movies should have Roger Deakins as a visual consultant. He probably contributed heavily to the success of the film's visuals.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Terminator 3

I know I'm going to get flamed for this, but this movie isnt really that bad. Sure, it sucks in comparision to T1&2 - but to top them would be almost impossible. Considering it had the huge task of trying to hold any candle to what many people regard as the greatest Action/Sci-Fi movie of all time, it could have done much worse. For one, it actually has Arnie - which makes the movie worth a watch just to see him. And Arnie steals the show, being hilarious and interesting. What the writers failed with in terms of plot they do make up for by nailing Arnie, which shows that someone with half a brain was involved in the movie.

And is the action is FREAKING AWESOME! T1 had about one car chase and a couple of bullets. T2 had helicopters, cars, trucks, the works, all used as a device to build tension and tell the story. However, this movie just wrecks everything that has an insurance. Its fantastic, and anyone with surround sound should rush out and buy this movie. Its hugely satisfying to see everything onscreen being destroyed.

If only they had got the story right. Apart from new action, a female protagonist (which I swear is only there to make us forget that she's useless compared to the T-1000, who was a better protagonist in the fact that nothing could stop him) and a much more cheaper and disorganised atmosphere, the story was exactly the same - we had to wait untill the slightly-better-yet-dissapointing Terminator 4 before we got anything original.

Awesome. I can't believe 2 years ago this was my least favourite Tarantino film. WHAT WAS I THINKING ? Now it's one of my faves. Totally awesome movie. 5/5

Bought it on blu-ray and watched it. Amazing. I love the last forty minutes of the film.

Well done Dreamworks. I walked in thinking it would be ok but I actually really liked it. It's also really cool because my friend's mom know Chris Sanders (one of the directors) from High School.

Super Mario Bros: The Movie

I saw it at Blockbuster and I had to see how bad it was. Never will I do that again.

Diary Of A Wimpy Kid

Wow, when I first saw a sneak peek at the actors I thought, "This is the biggest flop this year'". They were using a kid who seemed like he was in 4th grade for Greg, and he wasn't even as thin as it is emphasized in the book. Despite the bad character choice, I watched the movie. This kid played Greg really well, the part that amazed me was his ability to act like a jerk yet still have people cheer for him. They skipped a few jokes that were in the book, and added a few things as well. For the Fregley house scene, they put a real booger, which kind of pushed it.

The Birds
You can't get more classic than that.
I actually found it somewhat thrilling, despite the bad special effects.  however, the authenticity was great, remember when we used REAL animals in movies? (Insert calming music and chirping birds)  A couple complaints though, the birds' motive was never explained, my best guess is that they wanted the love birds to be released.  And why are christian boat men always depicted as crazy?   And why did they send all the kids outside when all the crows were there waiting for them?

Overall, pretty awesome.  I feel sorry for the bird trainer.  3.8/5

The Princess and the Frog
Much better than i thought it was gonna be.  I enjoyed it, like REALLY enjoyed it.  I love how they kept all the classic disney elements and added some pretty hilarious humor.  This movie is flat out enjoyable, (At least for me).  And did you notice how they invested you in a romance between a couple frogs?  Not me, I laughed.

There is some awkward song introductions, and I can't tell why Mama Obie has "good voodoo" while Facilier(did I spell that right?) has evil voodoo.  Voodoo comes from the same source, but Facilier seems to be getting it straight from the devil(The big tiki), Mama could be using magic, but, I'll just leave it at that.

Very enjoyable and surprisingly dark for a G rated film 4.3/5
