of the characters. It was strange (and slightly off-putting) how quickly the genre of the movie changed.

This is my main pet peeve with the film as well. It feels like Quentin Tarantino wrote the fist half of the movie, then stopped writing all of a sudden, gave it to Rodriguez and said "yeah do whatever you want with it". Though the "I served in Vietnam"] bit made me laugh hard.

It's no WALL•E, but I still enjoyed this movie for the most part. It was a nice break from the usual animated film, and it made me wonder why more animated films like this aren't made. I think it could have benefited from a more worked out story and characters, though, and the ending left me a bit clueless; however, I think it's different enough that it might merit a place in my film collection one of these days.

Saw it in 2D, but have you seen my mind? Consider it blown.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Last film I saw was Sherlock Holmes. 'Twas a rad-@ss take on the Holmes character. Holmes was the shee-it aside from some of the Adler stuff, Watson was the shee-it, the sequences showing Holmes' mind work in a fight were the shee-it, and the soundtrack was the shee-it. Guy Ritchie knocked it out of the park, plus Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law have magnificent chemistry. Hopefully we'll get an @ss-load of sequels.

Too abrupt and quick.  Lackluster characters.

That, sir, was epic.  Now I need to read the novel.

Terminator Salvation

Wow, that was...that was awful. Like, I could tell three minutes in that it was going to be bad...and it fulfilled those expectations completely.

I was actually surprised to find I liked the movie better than the graphic novel. They kinda had to beef it up a little to make it a movie. It looks fantastic on the page, though. Maybe I would have liked it better if I had read it before seeing the movie version.

Worse than the third Terminator movie?

Oh come now it wasn't that bad. I have seen much worse films.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Did anyone here like Sin City? I thought it was awful but it's been rated as the 93rd best film ever made on imdb.

The IMDB list has some very odd choices. Remember that it's pretty much in the hands of greasy fanboys, the kind that regularly proclaim the latest graphic novel adaptation to be one of the greatest films ever made. mini/tongue

Soylent Green
Like most people who see this movie now I knew the twist but that didn't detract much from the film. I watched it more like a Columbo episode and I wanted to see how Charlton Heston found it out. I think the film could have been better if they put more into the characterisation of the Soylent people so the question "How did they come to this?" was answered. Anyway I found it enjoyable and not the B movie I was expecting from it's parodies I've seen.

I really like Sin City, but to say it's the 93rd best movie ever is a bit over the top. Sure there are better, but Sin City was a more then enjoyable flick to me.

Sherlock Holmes

I went to see this with Willemse but boy did this movie suck! There was absolutely nothing that linked the movie to Sherlock Holmes except for the title. There was no detective scene or whatsoever, except for a tiny part of one scene with Ritchie had to ruin by adding a fight without any reason. The one I expected, Holmes snorting cocaine, wasn't even in it. The story was awfull (WTF is up with the boat) and the only good thing in this movie is Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr's performances.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

John Carpenter's The Fog
it was ok, Carpenter made way better movies though. It' kinda cheeses up with the cheap jump scares and NO freaking blood while a human was being stabbed.

Once Upon A Time In Mexico
Wauw, what a huge disapointment, Rodriguez didn't seem to have much originality ready, so he just copy'd the previous movie and added tons of characters played by famous actors. I really just didn't gave a !@#$ about Mariachi in this part, Johnny Depp just stole this movie from him with his cool badass acting. I especially loved him in the end.

2,5/5

Evil Dead: Commentary with Bruce Campbell

His commentary gives a great view on how the filming production went trough and the changes of him on the set and the actors. Definatly wasn't boring

I loved that film. Altough I was a bit younger and it scared the hell out of me, I tought that was a darn good piece of filmmaking.

Sherlock Holmes
I really enjoyed this film. I think I've seen a different version of it than Infurno; there was plenty of detectiving in the film. Add to that some great scenes; for example Ritchie's decision to sacrifice realism for having a guy fly backwards through a wall after getting an electrostatic? shock] not once, but THREE times was a pretty risky one but it worked IMO. The film in my opinion had the right balance between good humour and good storytelling.
