Re: What was the last movie you watched?
I disagree; Michael Caine is fabulous in that film.

It really doesn't matter what "that film" is, the statement is true. Has he ever not been fabulous?

Ooo, this is not something to miss out on in theaters. I was blown away. The story wasn't that bad in my opinion, even if it was it doesn't matter because the world James Cameron created was so believable and realistic that I didn't care what the story was. I've never seen CGI so clear, I usually hate CGI because of how blurry it is and how unclear it can be, but this was very well done. The acting was pretty good, I could feel the emotion of Titanic in there a lot at points. It also reminded me a bit of The Matrix, but not in a good way, I could tell they kind of ripped off a lot of things. The end song in the credits was terrible too. But otherwise, this was really great, Hollywood actually took a chance on an original story for once.

... Dances With Wolves in space isn't really what I would call original. But still, I loved it.
Monsters, Inc. (in glorious HD!)
"I would kidnap a thousand children!"
Casablanca
Master class writing and acting. Superb movie, no wonder it's hailed as a classic.
Avatar 3-D
I'd never seen a theatrical 3-D film before, and I thought Avatar would be the perfect cherry-popper for that. I really liked the way the 3-D utilized depth of field and further immersed you into the world of Pandora, rather than go for cheap thrills of having things fly out at you. Very effective, an amazing experience.
Legends of the Fall
It's well-acted (particularly by Brad Pitt and Aidan Quinn), and the cinematography was gorgeous, but I dunno, there's something about it that keeps it from being really great. The pre-war scenes I thought were the best, but the story after that just sort of settles into melodrama, and although some of it is very effective and moving, some if it also seems sort of generic. It's a good movie, but not great.

Most epic movie I have ever seen, the story was pretty good but what got me was th animation, it was awesome! Now I know where the 500 mil used to make that movie went towards, I highly recomend this movie to everyone!
Idiocracy
a true diamond in the rough, I LOVED this movie, it was hillarios, it was directed by mike judge, the same guy that made office space and Extract, idiocracy is about in the future instead of getting smarter everyone gets dumber because all the idiots make more babies instead of smart people, hilarity ensues

Er, Mike Judge had nothing to do with Shaun of the Dead.

How the hell did I get extract mixxed up with shawn of the dead? Maybye same actor as office space..... I think.... Wait no, hmmmm... I think at the begining of idiocracy it said "brought to you by the guys from office space and Shawn if the dead" or is it the other way around? I know "hot fuzz" has something to do with it to.... nevermind, I am starting to confuse myself ![]()
I switched it to Extract

Labyrinth
David Bowie + Jim Henson + the 1980's = Awesome movie.
I totally freaked out when he chucked the baby in the air, though.
44 Inch Chest
Very peculiar film, definitely not what I was expecting. I'm still a bit unsure of how the film arrived at the conclusion that it did (or what we were supposed to take away from it), but the journey there was certainly very interesting. Solid performances from the cast, particularly from Ray Winstone, John Hurt, and Ian McShane.

The Italian Job (2003)
Pretty awesome, good action thriller.
Loved the acting by Edward Norton, turns out he can play an evil dude just as amazing as any other part he's played.
I'll be seeing the old one with Michael Caine soon.

I was frightened to death of that movie as a child.
Avatar 3-D
Pretty much what everyone else said.
The Hangover
Very funny.
G-force
Worst movie ever.
Watchmen
While it certainly captures the look of the graphic novel through fantastic art direction, costume design (sans Ozy's costume), and cinematography, it ultimately lacks the feel paranoia and human existentialism that the book had. Too much has been sacrificed from the source material to fit into the modest 160 minute running time (characters, various story arcs, etc.). I didn't feel any particular connection to the characters, and hence, no real emotional attachment to the story. Plus, the ending lacked a certain catharsis and moral ambiguity that the novel left you with, which was a tad off-putting.
While it was certainly a bold undertaking, and I can credit the filmmakers and actors for trying the best they could (particularly Jackie Earle Haley's performance), ultimately...eh.
From Dusk 'till Dawn
One thing that annoyed me was the fact that Quentin Tarantino and George Clooney were supposed to be brothers. I mean, come on.
Other than that, I was kinda enjoying the whole hostage thing, and then, all of a sudden, there are all these
vampires
trying to
suck the blood
of the characters. It was strange (and slightly off-putting) how quickly the genre of the movie changed. Plus, the special effects were pretty bad. It had it's moments, though, the closing shot especially.
