Re: BiM 2011: TOY [CLOSED]

It depend how the film is.
I wouldn't say to cut or not unless I saw it for myself, so I cannot give a good idea on that.
I like long films, but only when they have substance. I recommend you just watch it over a time or too, and ask yourself for every scene what needs to be cut. If you find a scene lacks substance, is boring or just unimportant, just cut it.
If you find the film is too long for YouTube, I suggest you post it in two parts.

Re: BiM 2011: TOY [CLOSED]

Well some of the scenes aren't particularly interesting, but are kinda needed for the story. I think about 5 minutes of it has nothing happening, the rest has boulders, bridges, cannibals, cannon attacks, swords, fights, chases, etc. Most of that comes at the end though.
There is a bit which I think I can cut out, I'll probably do that. But that'll only make it about 15 seconds shorter, I don't think much else can be cut.

Re: BiM 2011: TOY [CLOSED]

TOY just went over two minutes mini/bigsmile. Not much more to do. Can't wait to submit it mini/smile.

Re: BiM 2011: TOY [CLOSED]

I've updated the entries list.  I should note that I have not simply listed every video submitted; I have been eliminating submissions that contain obvious copyrighted content or are public Youtube videos that were posted a long time ago and aren't really relevant to the contest theme anyway.

Filmfire, 14 minutes isn't totally unreasonable, but I frequently find myself bored with brickfilms that are that long if the narrative doesn't flow at a good pace.  If you think you can make the film better by cutting a few minutes out, I would generally encourage that.  Often less is more.

Re: BiM 2011: TOY [CLOSED]

Film is done, but since the video is very large in size (0.9 GB), it's taking YouTube a long time to process it.

EDIT: Submitted.

Hehehe
Pirate Rule! was 4 GB. mini/dizzy
Twelve hour upload. not fun. mini/blankexpression

Hey, just wondering, guys, I know it's too late now since 'Pirates' has already been released, but do you think that could have been a ToY entry?
It's pretty far fetched, but it still has a historical setting (although it be ridiculous).

Re: BiM 2011: TOY [CLOSED]

It's half two in the morning here, and I've just submitted mine. Went to bed while it uploaded. It's a little over 14 minutes long, but if I did cut out the not as interesting bits the story wouldn't have made much sense. There's also a lot it it, loads of scenes. And I did previously cut a lot out, probably a good 2 and a half minutes.
I'm off to bed.

Re: BiM 2011: TOY [CLOSED]

Sweetness. mini/smile
Go public the moment the contest ends.
Or as soon as possible.

Re: BiM 2011: TOY [CLOSED]

RealBrick was so kind to take out time at the last second to do my gun shot effect. I can't thank him enough, and because of that, and some other things. My TOY is possible mini/smile.

Re: BiM 2011: TOY [CLOSED]

I'm rendering it right now. Not a very good entry, but I'll re-edit it when I come home from vacation.

EDIT: I take that back. Apparently the computer I used to edit my film can't handle Sony Vegas. It only rendered half of my brickfilm, and I couldn't submit it on time. Oh well. Good luck to the entrants!

WTA's just kidding. It's a Terminator.

I saw the exact photo on Google and there's a video of it on Youtube.
