Topic: Go Kart Race

This is a short clip I made for a co-worker in the place of a birthday card. In case you didn't guess, we're all going go-karting for his 21st mini/smile

Designing the carts was the biggest challenge here as I only had a couple of afternoons to complete this clip, so there was no time to order in the ideal parts I would have liked. The animation took about 3 hours, post production probably took about 6 due to rotoscoping out some of the not-as-nicely-lit white expanse.

A fun little exercise. Please critique it and let me know what you think, be it good or bad mini/smile

I would have liked to do a race too - I had all sorts of crazy swerves and the karts nudging each other in mind. Deadlines tend to do that though, unfortunately. mini/sad

Quite awesome, I liked it. I enjoyed the helmet visors going down shot. The panning(? I can't remember what it's called. D:) was very nice. Good job! mini/bigsmile

Very nice, as always, though I could tell before even reading the thread that you ran out of time and had to cut out a lot of what you were planning. Loved the cart design, and I'd love to see you try to film an actual race with them.

I'm guessing the drinking age in Australia is different than here in the States... Americans do not go-karting to celebrate 21st birthdays... mini/wink

I'm reasonably happy with how the karts turned out given I had no time to order the pieces I really wanted to use. Unlikely I'll film a full race with them unless I get a good reason to, though.

I chuckled at your comment about the drinking age. It's 18 years.
