Re: The Force Unleashed

It's not the masking that was exceptional, masking is easy. It was fancypant's ability to make the movements look so real combined with the sounddesign and cameramovements that made this duel superb.

Apart from being absolutely epic in almost every way, I feel that it lacked emotion, just like all the light saber duels in the latest starwars films. Though there was a nice piece of emotion in the end, I felt the rest of the film was just fancy moves.

That's exactly what I was trying to say. Thank you.

Re: The Force Unleashed

It's definitely lacking the context necessary for emotion, yeah.  I'd agree with RedLetterMedia's Episode 1 review that the prequel duels, particularly in Episode 1, are generally more boring than the Original Trilogy because it looks and feels like a lot of fancy swordplay but there's not much meaning behind it.

Still, though, I really enjoyed this for what it is.  It's a really impressive piece of animation, I enjoyed watching it several times.

Re: The Force Unleashed

I like how you make Galen Marek (secret apprentice) make those moves, but where's the climax? Still, great brickfilm.

Re: The Force Unleashed

He's called Starkiller actually.
I've played the game, which you obviously haven't.

I've played it too! mini/bigsmile

The only thing he's known by is either Starkiller or the Dark Apprentice. His name is never actually learned.

Re: The Force Unleashed

Well, actually his real name is known. It was told in the comic versions or something. However, yeah it was never mentioned the actual game.

Re: The Force Unleashed

As several people have said before, with a good script, it will be better! But, the challenge is ''make the best Lightsaber duel'', no? So, I think that is the best Lightsaber duel (in Lego) that I Ever seen. Like Sméagol said, it's definitely lacking the context necessary for emotion. This duel would be good in a movie of 5 or 6 minutes, I think. But it would take much time to make a film of this quality on few minutes... I also think that is the best animated film of 2010 that is seen! Poor Keshen... but Keshen is in the top 10 of the best brickfilmers that I know! If Keshen, Fancypants and Sméagol would make a film together,  it will be INCREDIBLE!

Re: The Force Unleashed

Galen Marek = Starkiller.

Re: The Force Unleashed

I just happened to drop by for a visit (something I rarely do at this site anymore) and in the chat, I asked for suggestions of good films. This was the first title to come up, and I can definitely see why. Very clean, fluid, lifelike animation; flawless lightsabre effects; and great sound design. I'm very glad I came across this film. Excellent work!

Re: The Force Unleashed

epic win on that film. I still feel stupid for not getting those effects done mini/sad

Just taking advantage of this horrendous bump (Hello, LegoPeoples37) to say that

is indeed correct. He goes by "Dark Apprentice" or "StarKiller" more often, though.

Love it!  I'm a huge fan of you're stop motion, though I haven't released any of my brickfilms yet.

Re: The Force Unleashed

One of the first vids I got on my mP3 player last year... thought it would be some corny wannabe animation...
Boy, was I wrong! This introduced me to FancyPants! He goes down as one of my Brickfilming heroes! mini/smile
