Re: Digital camera or webcam???

A quickcam is (we personally think) easier to use, while a digital camera may give better quality though.  This would be a good question to ask Smeagol, though I best he will say that it depends.

For brickfilming: webcam

Re: Digital camera or webcam???

To add to the others comments, if your looking at price, you'll find that webcams are mostly much cheaper than digital cameras. Although, there are some decent and cheap digital cameras.

Re: Digital camera or webcam???

If you choose webcam, Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000, if you choose digital camera, any that has a direct feed feature and can be operated with out being touched

Re: Digital camera or webcam???

In my opinion Digital Camera, use a remote, to, uh, "remotely" take your pictures, but, er, if you want to use a webcam, then you want to use a webcam. mini/confused

Re: Digital camera or webcam???

Only use digital cameras if you can remotely take pictures and focus and what ever...

Re: Digital camera or webcam???

As everyone says use a  Digital Camera that it keeps its quality even in 3 inches away and has Manual Focus.
either that or go with the stunning 100 dollar Logitech pro 9000.

Re: Digital camera or webcam???

Ark 11 is right. Here's what I wrote in another thread just like this one, about 5 seconds ago:

If you're only willing to fork out up to $100, you should get the Quickcam. If you want something you can take photos with in the real world as well, you'll have to spend a lot more. Look here and here to see the cameras that work with SMP - I'm guessing they'll also work with Helium Frog and other animation programs but I'm not sure.

Why the frikk' does no-one notice this thread?

Re: Digital camera or webcam???

Personally, I think webcams are much easier to use. Also, it's not true that digital cameras have better quality, as you can get quality even better than digital cameras with the Logitech Quickcam Pro 9000. It has up to 8.0MP still frames. It is meant for Windows, but it works on Macs, too. The only problem is, on Windows it has autofocus, but you can change that in the setting of your capture software to manual focus, but on Mac it only uses autofocus. Overall, I personally think webcams are a much better choice. mini/smile

Sorry, I don't think the Quickcam Pro 9000 is HD.

IgotLegosFilms is right! If you can change the 9k to 8 MP why should you buy a digital camera then? A digital camera is more expensive...

Re: Digital camera or webcam???

That "8 megapixels" is through interpolation which means it's basically stretching the native resolution of 2 megapixels. You get no more detail that way.

Good artists copy. Great artists steal.

Re: Digital camera or webcam???

You don't need high resolutions like that so what's the point?

Webcam or DSLR, if you can fish out the cash.

Re: Digital camera or webcam???

I got a digital camera for christmas and a webcam just because I asked my dad.
I mean, some can be better than others right???
And I want good quality because I am working a lot on cinematography.

By the way, I don't know how i'm just noticing your mistake now, but the 'p' you were talking about stands for PIXELS. So when you said it is not all about megapixels, but the 'p' as well, your basically just saying that it IS about megapixels... Don't know how I missed that.
