Any other thoughts?

The only other suggestion I have is to use sculpey or clay. Although a tedious procedure, if you take your time, you can get a really good result.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

I've tried claymation in the past, and it's not really a go-er for me. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

As some of you may have seen in my pre-production thread, I've started on a Knights' Kingdom brickfilm.
I'm trying to get hairpieces for the main knights because they're sure to be seen with their helmets off at some point.
Any ideas for Danju (the purple knight) or suggestions for the others?  I think Santis (red) looks pretty cool with the topknot thingy, I don't know though.  What do you think?

The Shadow Knights I have (without legs, obviously)

I need suggestions for the 'generic' knights in the kingdom.  I have a ton of different torsos and helmets, so that's not really an issue.  Any suggestions for the ordinary knights?

I'm not even sure if any of the homelands will show up, but just in case I'd like to have some ideas for villagers and local knights. Rascus is from the province of Banteras and I thought that its villagers could be a forest-men like people.  It would explain part of why Rascus is the agile knight, foresters and trees and stuff, 'ya know.  Anyway, in the artwork for the villages of the four knights Banteras is shown to be buildings built in the trees so it's perfect.  Something like this for the villagers:

I'd love to know what you think of the hair choices for the knights and any suggestions you may have for any of the character designs, especially the generic knights in Knights' Kingdom.  Thanks for the help!

Oh yeah, just for fun I threw together the Star Trek cast from the new movies.  From left to right: Kirk, Bones, Spock, Chekov, Scotty, and Khan.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

They look good! I like the choice of hair for Santis, but not the one for Jayko. He would look better with the basic minifigure hairpiece or thr hHarry Potter hairstyle.

For Danju I'd recommend using the swept-back hairstyle in brown or an orange tint. (the one seen on Hawkeye)

The rest look great!

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

I agree with BrickStory. Also, I think I prefer the newer torsos for the regular knights and soldiers in the kingdom, the level of detail matches the shadow knights and the main characters better than the old ones, although the new helmets with the old torsos might work as well. mini/smile

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

The Star Trek cast is simplistically awesome!  As a fan of old school Lego, it's nice to see characters without detailed printed chests/torsos and having it work.  Love it.

Oh, PS: I saw your kinghts thread and was wondering if it's going to be a single story or a series, and the length you project the film will be.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

Okay, I've tried a few different combinations from suggestions here and in the preproduction thread.
That hair for Danju is probably the best option I have so far, I think I'll go with that.  I like the plain hair for Jayko, I think that's what I'll use.  I tried the hair with the sweep (that's on Santis in the first picture) on Jayko but it gives too much of a Ninjago vibe to it.  For Santis I'll probably stick with the topknot, I think it looks cool.  Also, it gives me the option to have his hair down, like in the first or second photo.  The only reason why I don't use the same hair as in the second photo for him is because Rascus has the same hair and I don't really want to do that (plus I think I only have one of that hair piece).

http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5479/11786804303_ca8f8a8c7b.jpg

Then I've got the villagers or people in the individual provinces for each knight.  Here's what I'm thinking:
Rascus's people will be in the trees and stuff, so they're kind of like Robin Hoods men type-of-people, not outlaws, just that look.
Danju I'm not sure about...they could have the old wolfpack torso because their animal is the wolf, then I could mix in purple because that's his people's colour.
http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7290/11786962764_5f0dd1dbff.jpg

Santis's people are farmers and laborers, so they'll mostly have generic torsos but they could also have some of these torsos thrown in for soldiers.  Jayko, I'm not sure about.  Maybe a mixture of the two torsos I have in the picture?
http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2880/11786548675_e0d799683b.jpg

I like the newer knights torsos for the Morcia knights, they fit well.  They also have the crown on their chest which resembles the crown above the lion on Mathias.
http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5504/11786800493_a3c96270c5.jpg

What do you think of these choices for the random knights in each smaller province?  Also, I think I've got their hair choices down but just in case anyone has any major breakthrough hairpieces...they're not final yet.
Thanks for the help!

Also, thanks, HoldingOurOwn!
About the Knights' Kingdom thing, it really depends on how much I add to the story and go into the backstory.  I know it's going to be a single film, and possibly a second for the second wave of Knights' Kingdom (if the first one works well), but not a series.  I expect it to be at least five minutes, but I really don't know as of yet.  It could be a lot longer if I go into the backstory much.
Also, you asked about the LEGO Adventure Book in a different thread.  They're written by Megan Rothrock, an AFOL, and has a variety of instructions and models from other AFOLS.  They've got some awesome inspiration and some great models with instructions, I'd suggest checking them out.  Here's links to the two of them (you can look inside on Amazon)

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

The hair choices are great, I think the topknot is probably the best for Santis.
As for the people, you seem to have chosen well. Red armor and silver plating for Santis, Black Falcons for Jayko.
I'm curious what your film will be like... mini/smile

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

I hope this isn't the wrong place, but we don't really have a good thread for what I'm needing. Anyway, does anyone know of a normal minifigure torso that looks close to the torso section of this microfig?

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

I don't think there's one, but would you be up for decals? There are users on this site and on Flickr who - I'm sure - would be happy to make you some.

This is close-ish, but has inverted colors. mini/blankexpression
Looks like decals for you.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

That's what I've arrived at for your situation.  I looked through all the Castle torsos on bricklink, as well as all of my torsos that might work in any way.  It's all pretty much dragon profiles, that looks more like a Gryffin or Phoenix to me.
Nothing seems to look that great, especially not with the way it looks like a tunic over armor.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

Wow... That medieval torso collection is just... wow.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

Here's a few custom MARVEL Super heroes I made recently.  I stuck them in the set I have for Iron Man's basement just because I needed something to put them on.  Most of the designs are most likely based off of designs others have already used, specifically from Eurobricks; I can't recall where any of them are inspired by though.

Anyway, here we go.  I know Iron Patriot isn't actually custom, I just had to have him in there because he's awesome.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

The Red Skull torso was from the businessman in CM series 8.

The face for the Vulture is the Mandarin from the Iron Man 3 sets so unfortunately, it's actually a double sided head, but works perfectly imo.

The torso is Killer Croc's from the 2006 Batman sets.

Thanks!

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

Those X-treme team torsos are really useful for the X-Men. I had Cyclops, Iceman and Shadowcat built for a while the same way, although my second versions included a decal-face for Cyclops.

Awesome mini figs.

Re: *The Official Minifigure Critique Thread*

I like them, but I feel Sandman should have a more normal head than a Mandalorian one. I really like your bucky minfigure though.
