Topic: The Outlaw: Truth Sequel (sci-fi noir action movie) Production

Hello everyone, you won't get rid of me so easily! mini/tongue
I'm back with a new long-movie project.
If anyone saw the end of Truth , more precisely the end credits, might remember that it was written that "Jake thunder will come back". In order to furfill that promise, I worked on doing an outline of what would this film be, there have been several versions, the first two were sequel ideas, another was reprising an old idea I had, "The Outlaw". "The Outlaw" was a film idea I already had around 2011-2012, and that actually inspired Truth's backstory aspects. The Outlaw's original story has been modified in order to make it become a Prequel to Truth. But I wasn't that happy with this version of what the movie would be, so I wrote a second-draft, different by many points of view from what the original story was.

After saying that, "The outlaw" as a final product will be a science fiction thriller, prequel to the film "Truth", but that is supposed to be seen after seeing "Truth". Also because of the project being set before Truth, and feature scenes that were flash-backs in truth, I will be including the newly recorded footage for outlaw, together with some re-shoots of specific scenes, some better special effects and new voicing in a new edition of Truth, a director's cut.

Moving on, the story of "the outlaw" focuses on Jake being chased by the ADU corporation in a futuristic, dark city.
I already started working on some scenes, and I have tried to improve what on other movies by me was partly the biggest issue, the animating skills. Also FPS will be augmented from 15 FPS to around 18-20.
For a really short teaser-sorta thing to show the animation level of the film, Here's the link to a two-part mini-short I've posted on instagram: https://instagram.com/p/7Vz-1WnA0k/ https://instagram.com/p/7V0LiJnA09/
Just as my previous movies got inspiration from real movies (E.g.:Stalker: Mirror of Conscience from the movie Stalker, Ad Tenebras from Tarkovskij's cinematography), The outlaw does that too, at least from a visual point of view: It's visuals are mostly based off Blade Runner. Also there many flashbacks, wich form a secondary story that ties in with the principal plot, similarly to how Christopher Nolan's film work.:)

This film won't be out until a really long time, I'd said maybe even a year. I'm not sure how long would it come to be, maybe around the usual 12-15 minutes my films are, maybe longer, it might even reach 20+ minutes.

Finally, here's an early shot from the film (Note that this doesn't represent the look and lighting level of the entire film, most of the film will be much darker.)

Nice set. The denseness of the flora and the levels make it feel like a real forest. Is that an overgrown hut in the back, or a wall of trees? Either way, very nice.

Thank you so much!

That's supposed to be the side of a tree, yes. When I'll post other scenes taking place in the forest it'll be more clear because I use the same model for trees.

I think it's time to post some production pictures related to another Jungle scene.
Again, Note: these production pictures that feature a jungle refer to something that might be 1/10th of the film, There will be further updates that will show how the rest 9/10 look like.
I'd say we'll start with the frame from the film:

An interesting thing to show would be how did I make the jungle-looking in terms of lighting in the background.
The answer is here:

Just as light in a jungle would come through leaves, I've put the lego equivalent in the portions that I was going to keep unclosed. The light source is a common desklamp. Next picture features a better look at the details you can scarcely see in the background from the movie frame:

This shot also marks one of my first attempts at scenes shot with baseplates in an angled position. Next post will feature another jungle shot.

Re: The Outlaw: Truth Sequel (sci-fi noir action movie) Production

This is the last update that refers to the jungle scenes, there won't be shot any other jungle scene.
Here I started to actually not just do what I did in the previous shots, but actually put the leaves in a way that their shape could be recognized in the shadow:

This is the result:

So this was the last jungle-realted scene in the film. I must say that shooting these scenes (wich together last around maybe a minute of the film, a really short amount of time) was really educative, because I've been trying to achieve a photorealistic daylight with my single table-lamp, and I'm happy with how it turned out.
Next update will come with a really complex shot. wich is Ironic when I think about the fact that its lenght is no more than 10 seconds, but afterall I might be using the same kind of lighting effect I'm developing for this scene in othere scenes.
Also, a side-note: I'm currently writing a third draft of the film, because a few problems need to be solved story-wise towards the end of the film. I'm not changing anything from the intro of the film, the part I'm currently shooting, so it won't affect my shooting schedules.

Looks really good!

Here's a new shot:

Not sure If it's clear enough, but this is supposed to be a hospital scene.
Lighting in this scene is provided by the same desk lamp I used in the jungle shots, but with a trans-clear blueish lego-brick to act as filter:

Re: The Outlaw: Truth Sequel (sci-fi noir action movie) Production

Here comes a true jump in the making of this film, particularly from the lighting point of view.
So, let's do an inverse path, instead of "from-frame-to-backstage" "From-backstage-to-frame"
The set build. It took serious changes to find the right layout, and also the addition of the window-panel that filter the lights and allow my point-and-shoot to focus on the foreground:

You can also see the cables of the lights. Now, onto the buildings that you can see glowing:

Finally, the frame from the film:

Although it's a reeeeally brief scene, that lasts around 7 seconds, I'm really happy with how its lighting turned out. Unfortunately shooting scenes with this complex lighting with my camera is difficult. I try to do as much as I can, but in the meantime I'm saving for some more professional camera.

Re: The Outlaw: Truth Sequel (sci-fi noir action movie) Production

Here I am to prove that Iüm not dead.
Unfortunately my camera broke. This was an unexpected thing.
WHile I did a few more shhotings aswell, I can't go on with the project as long as I don't get a new camera, wich won't be immediate in the future, so this project will might be quite sinked for some time, after I release the last shots I did.
Unbfortunately also the pick-up shots I did for Truth: director's cut aren't finished yet, so that project's stuck too.
I'll release homever what I've done so far. I'll do some live action movies in the mean time.

Re: The Outlaw: Truth Sequel (sci-fi noir action movie) Production

Believe it or not, on the day on christmas my camera ressurrected from the dead Literally. It's a miracle.
So I could go on with my filmmaking. Actually I finished working on Truth: director's cut.

I recently released a Sneak Peek video that also features a few scenes from The outlaw. Check it out here:https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=deskt … 5g1g4guTmk
