I have uploaded a new version of the films index, I reworked the AJAX quite a bit and some Javascript issues with IE (that no one seemed to notice) should be fixed. I have also added the ability to view all films or just the staff favorites in addition to the regular browsing option.
BertL wrote:1. Some slight errors in the dates
This occures with some films, like (at the moment) Stop and Motion by Helico, and Cashman by Philip Heinrich. Oddly enough, when you go to the film page the date is shown correctly. Not sure what happened there, but it is kind of annoying.
I will try to fix this next
BertL wrote:2. Resorting doesn't stick very well
So whenever I change the sort thingie from 'pretty detailed' to 'list' (or whatever you want to name it), the thing doesn't stick. By that I mean that when I sort the thing as a list, as soon as I go to (for example) a film page or any other page, the sorting system automatically goes back to 'detailed'. This isn't terribly annoying, but it's a slight drawback as people who prefer lists over the detailed things will have to click that button in the top right corner every single time. Every. Single. Time.
This is fixed, when you hit back it will take you back to the same page, in the same style you were view it in.
BertL wrote:3. No control panel ;_;
There's no control panel wherever you go in the Film directory. Again, this is slightly annoying especially when you want to go to your control panel after you've gone to a film page. Nothing big, but still.
Fixed
BertL wrote:6. Limited editing abilities
Ok so I wanted to edit the film page for Harbinger because I made a couple of mistakes on it. First problem was "Lord\_of\_the\_LEGO" which has lots of backslashes (probably a PHP problem or something). Second problem was mistagging Rolz's involvement in the film as "Cameo appearance", I want that to say just "Cameo". I found out that I couldn't fix the first problem as it just reverted back to the backslash riddled name. Also, I couldn't fix the second problem because the cast/crew thing seems unfixable.
I hope to get this fixed very soon, editing links and cast names will be possible
BertL wrote:Also, a question. When you edit the film page, will your forum thread thingie be edited as well? That would be quite handy, I think.
Currently it does not edit the film page, an oversight on my part, I will fix this.
randomparrot wrote:I think I have spotted a mistake. Unless i'm just looking at this wrong: The Newest films are on page 1 but when new films are added they will go onto page 1 and the old page 1 films will become page 2 and page 2 will become page 3 and so on. This means if I was to give someone a link to page 2, it might not be the same films when they look at it. to fix this it new films will have to go onto the highest numbered page and be descending. If it's any consolation brickfilms.com made the same mistake and they still haven't finished fixing it, they just put the oldest films on the first page of the directory.
This is not a bug, you could call it a 'design flaw', addressing this will take a bit of creative thinking but it is not a major priority.
MSD wrote:I really have only one annoyance other than the glitches already mentioned: You can't easily open a film in a new tab.
This is now fixed, if you right click on a films title you can open it in a new tab

On the old BF.com directory, my favourite feature was the Search by Rating, Genre, etc. It's very useful for finding a particular type of film, and in my opinion, would be a good addition to the already wonderful directory.
This is in the works, not quite as easy as I would like, but it is on the agenda
