This is probably the best adaptations of the original teaser trailer that I've seen. In fact it IS the best one out there.

The use of CGI and stopmotion was great, also, people don't seem to understand that adding video effects and CGI elements to a stopmotion video is a good thing, it can create much more depth and better story telling to the movie, IF done properly, this case proven.

Me, myself, never gets tired of seeing a good stopmotion video, if it's been done a thousand times and there's something new or refreshing about that particular version, I always end up enjoying it nonetheless, which in this case I thoroughly did.

I second that, GlowingSkull.

When I first saw this, I didn't truly appreciate it for what it was. I've not seen a better LEGO Star Wars trailer than this, at all. The behind the scenes just shows the beauty of how it was done. Some clever techniques used here, and some master craftmanship. It's amazing, and you can't stop watching it.

Watching the VFX breakdown and the original video was fascinating.

Just goes to show that the best VFX aren't 'Just practical effects' or 'Just CGI' but a skillful combination of the two.
It also shows that the most viewed videos on youtube aren't necessarily the best, just the ones that got noticed first.

Thanks! Yeah, we tried to use as much real stuff as we could. There's a lot of greenscreen but in most cases it was used to composite various real elements together in a way that matches the composition of the real trailer scenes as closely as possible, rather than to put CG in the background.

Huh. I can't believe I didn't congratulate you guys on this! I think it is definitely one of the best trailer/teaser recreations I know of. Great job on all aspects, its a real shame that youtube caters to speed of production and not quality...

Personally, I like the use effects and greenscreen if done correctly, which here, they definitely were. Everything was seamless and their skilful use gave us an amazing teaser recreation. Well done!

Thanks for the VFX bts video. I always appreciate them. You never know when you might pick up a good technique from one (plus they are just plain fun to watch)!

I watched the original video several times when it came out, and I never caught the fact you had corrected the storm troopers arms!
