What are we coding in? Java?
Excellent. Can I also suggest when the list is done we split the items into initial priorities, important features and eventual features? (Or something similar)
Another great idea.
Someone needs to mention onion skin. I eould but im on a tablet and cant copy/paste the list.
Another great idea.
Hehe thanks!
Using web languages for this type of project is probably not the first thing that springs into people's minds but I believe it is completely possible through some clever thinking.
Maybe this is the wrong time to start talking development but...
One challenge I think will be exporting video from the capturing frames. I had a go at creating a basic playback window today that compiles together frames from a folder. It is basically a javascript slideshow slammed together with php read directory function.
Creating a frame rate choice dialogue should be quite easy for it but I'm not sure how the sequences created by this method can be exported.
However for biscuit I think a better solution would be to have a look at Whammy:
https://github.com/antimatter15/whammy
(This is all the case if we want to use HTML 5 and PHP to do this of course... Does Python have a more elegant system?)
Also color code the list?
Yes please!
(With red as most important)

I'll make a list in google docs so that it's neater and anyone can edit it.
EDIT
Here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1sXR
FNq94/edit
Anyone with this link can edit it and add suggestions to the list. I'll keep a close eye on it so it doesn't get out of hand. Please don't share this outside this group. This isn't a public suggestion box, it's only a suggestion box for people with interest in the program, ie: BiM users.

I have been following the original project for a while, and it's nice to see it back in progress! I would like to contribute, but I have no knowledge of this sort of thing. I wish you guys the best of luck with this project!
Lunears, can you link to the suggestions document in the OP?
EDIT: Also, I think we should have the code editable online, so we can all collaborate on it easier, rather than sending files backwards and forwards. Even if we made another document with static code on it, and someone regularly updated the code offline.
Note that I haven't really had a look at github. If this is what it does already, then excuse my comments.
EDIT 2: Ignore question, I understand github now.
I also found this. Using manycam we could provide support for DSLR's. http://www.xarg.org/project/jquery-webcam-plugin/

Start development at anytime, what does everyone else think?
I think you're getting close. Do you know how many coders you have and what they will be working on? It would be a shame to find out three ppl are working on the same export feature.
Perhaps one person needs to work on the "main screen" and provide that to github. From that, others can then pick a function and add that to the main screen.
Think of a concrete foundation. Once the flooring is in place, others can pick a wall and build it. Others with graphic ability can come along and add walls, dressing and rooves.
I'm going to have to step down from main development because I have no practice whatsoever in web development. I've done HTML, PHP, and JavaScript, but not enough to really make a good web app. I can help test because I have a Linux and a Mac, and minor code edits, but I can't do major code edits or be considered a main developer.
I'm in the same boat as not knowing so much web development, however I think we should still stay on the development team. You never know what we might be needed for
If we were using java as the main language, I would volunteer to be lead developer, but that's really the only language I have been using.
I am, but I got no idea where to start. I'll take an allocated job
Thread derail:
All you java developers should consider resurrecting the glue face program done in Java and abandoned in 2009. It seems like a nifty program and almost works. In terms of value add, you'd be offering something no software can do anywhere vs developing software we all have already (albeit not for free).
Thread un-derail.
Anybody up for learning C++? We can maybe use Qt Creator to make our program. I'm pretty sure this will help us develop cross platform applications because Qt Creator is a cross platform IDE
I have a program I am happy with, but, Im happy to help with design.
