Re: BRAWL 2014

Well gosh darn it.
I just realized I'll hardly be able to do BRAWL.  On Saturday and Sunday I'm pretty much busy all day with a swim event, helping host Olympic swimmers.  I'll be working/swimming for about 5-7 hours every other day of the week except Monday, I'll only be busy about 2 hours out of my day.
Wow, and I just realized that a film class I was doing over the summer has its last 'classroom' sessions online for 2 hours a day, Tue-Thur.
Darn darn darndy darn darn darn darn darn it DARN.  So much for BRAWL.

Yeah, I don't really know how well this will be able to work out, if at all.

Re: BRAWL 2014

I love being a casual worker and still on uni holidays, I only have 21 hours of work next week, and the rest can be used for BRAWL mini/bigsmile

Re: BRAWL 2014

Are you allowed to ask for help with voices and AE before the contest.

I was thinking I could pick some people who would be willing to voice act on my whatever the film will be called. Same with visual effects. Do I have to do this after the film, or can I do it before?

You could organise those things before if that's how you do things, no one will ever know when you organised for a voice actor mini/smile

True, but is it allowed in the contest is what I would like to know.

Re: BRAWL 2014

They have no way of judging it, so I'd say go ahead mini/smile

That said, think of the limitations if you cast someone before you have seen the theme. It might be a perfect theme for a male voice, but you case a female already, then you'd have to go to the trouble of finding a male voice.

Re: BRAWL 2014

There's nothing technically preventing you from doing that, but I think it goes against the spirit of BRAWL. The point is to make a film in one week, not one week and a few hours/days extra.

The only thing I'm going to do to prepare is to have my studio clean and organized.

I couldn't have said it better myself, Nathan.

Have you seen a big-chinned boy?

Ok, it might be hard to get voice actors in a day or two but I'll give it a shot! Good luck everyone! mini/wink

There will be many people on the forum who will probably be ready and willing to voice for you during the contest, so it shouldn't be too hard. yYou probably shouldn't make a script that's too heavy on characters who need voices anyway just because it will add up to more time spent editing audio and less on animating, which is the hardest part.

I just voice acted last year because I was visiting family at the time. mini/smile

Re: BRAWL 2014

Thank goodness my mom got pregnant so I can stay home, and participate in my first BRAWL!

Yeah. I'd only need like 2 - 4 people anyway. That's what I'm going for.

Re: BRAWL 2014

I'm pretty excited! I can voice for anyone (I'll make an official post on the 20th) if you need it! I'm at my grandparent's house so I have neither my studio, nor my collection of lego, so... I'm going to have to get a a couple of custom figs from the LEGO store, and some bricks.

It's going to be a challenge (not that making a quality brick film in a week isn't a challenge!), but I really want to make an entry. This should be rather fun!

Re: BRAWL 2014

I'm gonna make an attempt at an entry!

Here comes my 4th BRAWL.

Re: BRAWL 2014

I'm going to try and enter this one. This will be my 1st contest BiM. I have actually been a little happy with my animation the past week so I think I am ready. Plus if it works well with the theme, I have some really good ideas in my mind. mini/tongue

I just want it to start already. Does anyone know when it starts in Eastern Standard Time?

Re: BRAWL 2014

I usually check to make sure that certain voice actors I like are up for acting just in case, it saves a tiny bit of time in the contest because you won't call an actor who isn't able.  It doesn't go against the spirit, it's just keeping everything organized beforehand similarly to cleaning your studio.
I haven't done it though because I really want to try something without dialogue or very little.  I may give up on that anyway.

For me BRAWL starts at 7 PM here (EST).  So BRAWL starts today.
Let's do this.
