Re: What was the last movie you watched?

El Mariachi

This was awesome. I can't believe this was made for only 7000$! And most of that went to the film, the production itself costed only 600$! And yet Robert Rodriguez managed to make it look like it was filmed with a large budget. I enjoyed it, as well as the 'ten-minute film school' feature that comes with it in which Rodriguez explains some of his tricks he used to make it on such a low budget.

Desperado

Well since I saw, El Mariachi and liked it, I saw the sequel Desperado. Shot on a much larger budget, and it shows, this movie did alright. I didn't like it as much as I liked El Mariachi but this was an OK sequel and a more than average action movie. I really liked Antonia Banderas in it. Salma Hayek was good too. I'm also going to see 'Once Upon A Time in Mexico' to finish the trilogy.

Kill Bill

I've never seen it before, so this was my first time. It was good, but I liked Tarantino's earlier films better. I've also got the sequel so that's for next week.

Duel

To be honest, I had never heard of this movie. It is a Spielberg flick apparently, and it shows. The film is very simple but manages to keep you watching. I think 'Cars' is based on this.

Old Boy

I'm not a big fan of Asian Cinema, but this one was good to my surprise. Gory, but good.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Once upon a time in mexico is great.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Enemy at the Gates

Literally, or figuratively?

Have you ever figuratively cried?

Anyway, I'm going to see WTWTA again tonight. Looking forward to it.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

^ Was that any good? Yeah, the book is a classic and all, but I just don't see how it could translate into a feature film.

The Informant
Ehh... wasn't bad. The story kind of trailed off into a confusing mess towards the end, but Matt Damon turned in a solid performance and I found it amusing enough. It was worth my $10.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Back to the Future
It's so much fun seeing a film for the first time very young, then going back and seeing again with an older sense of perspective; you begin to see jokes that you never knew were there, and you get a better understanding of the story. My favorite case of this has to be Toy Story, but after that it's fair game. This is how I felt watching Back to the Future this time. It's still a classic, and I've been whistling the theme music all evening (even though I watched it yesterday), but I got a lot more out of it watching the film this time around (suddenly, the relationship between Marty and his mother got a whole lot more awkward).

WALL•E
I like this film too much, but I think that's okay if the film is truly a great one. That opening sequence (not the first thirty minutes, even though that is also equally awesome) will always be one of my favorite. Unfortunately, that also means that Put On Your Sunday Clothes will always be stuck in my head. Oh well.

Evil Dead II: Dead by Dawn

Holy snap, that was a lot crazier than I thought it would be. Did they re-write the story of the first one a bit for this movie? That prologue in the beginning confused me. Anyway, this seemed like it had a much bigger budget than the last one. I noticed a lot more stop-motion in this one too, which is always cool. Also, that ending was hilarious, I'm pumped for Army of Darkness now, hopefully I can see that soon, maybe on Halloween..... mini/bigsmile
Groovy stuff.

3/5

Evil Dead Trilogy

mini/twitch That was... Amazing... I can see why you guys like these films so much... I wish I had these on DVD. I liked the first two better than Army of Darkness, I mean what is Evil Dead without the gore?

Filmyguy, at the beginning of both Army of Darkness and Dead by Dawn there is an alternate ending to the previous installment of the series... I'm not quite sure why they did that.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

At the beginning of Evil Dead 2 they did it because they didn't have the rights to the first one. So they figured they would re-hash the story a little bit and cut it down to 10 minutes? They did in the beginning Army of Darkness because they did before the second one. Even though they had the rights, it was almost expected for them to do it, so they threw it in there.

Just saw Max Manus at the Nordic Film Festival. Awesome flick.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Yeah, I know what you mean. I haven't seen Back to the Future since I was 12. I should re-watch it.

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Silence of the Lambs

Anthony Hopkins play the part almost to well
its classified as a thriller and I can see why
I loved it none the less though

Re: What was the last movie you watched?

Apocalypse Now
"The Horror... The Horror..."
What a crazy movie. I liked the first part of it, but the last part was just sick.
