Topic: What brick color is your favorite? And Why?

What are people's favorite brick color and why is it your favorite? (This can be in bulks or pieces, especially if you mix)

For me it would probably be dark grey I feel with grey pieces whether it be light or dark doesn't really bother me but it allows me to extend in my options for better looking set designs and more realistic plan outs.
For example you could build a house, castle, dungeon, cafe, cave, ruins there are so many options that I see with the dark grey/light grey pieces that I don't really see with common colors as below.

I also do however really like tan bricks but they are a lot harder to come by.

I have a lot of typical common brick colors such as yellow, white, blue, red and green. However I just don't know how to make use of them if any of these or several of these are one or many of your favorites how do you guys make use of it?

Probably purple and green.
Purple: mainly due to that it can be used in very good, and in somewhat unusual ways. Sadly, purple is showing up in more sets. This may sound stupid, but purple always was hard to get, and I felt happy years ago when I had  brave collection of that colour.
Green: Heh, this is because its the most colour of a piece that I have, and it can be used to form very nice landscapes and forced perspectives, that is, if it is used properly.

I kind of have a thing for Maersk Blue.

Keetorange and olive green are pretty good.

But I only work in black... (and sometimes very very dark grey).

Anyway, as far as colours go, I don't have a specific preference.  It really depends on what type of effect you want to achieve.  Happy fun rainbow-coloured fairy tale lands and gritty polluted dystopian cities will obviously have vastly different colour-schemes.

Having said that, I do love the "natural" colours LEGO has come out with, such as beige, sand green, dark red, and sand blue (though unfortunately I own very little of any of those colours).  I also use a lot of white and grey.  Personally I'm not such a huge fan of using really brightly coloured sets and props, but again it depends what style you're going for, and I would certainly use bright colours if it fitted the mood and tone I was going for.

Very interesting colors of use there guys,

Slurping animation purple is a very interesting color to pick I know that it is becoming a much easier brick color to get these days especially with the growing of friends products but I had no idea that they actually had purple besides in the friends set, I really wonder what you could make out of it, all I can think of when I think of purple halo for some weird reason I think it's cause of the needler mini/tongue And don't feel discouraged at all having a collection of something always feels rewarding no matter what it is!

Sean is that a really light blue? like cyan? I have never seen such a brick to be honest mini/no

Doing a quick search it appears the "proper" name for it is Sand Blue. I always thought of it as Maersk Blue because it appears prominently in the Maersk themed sets.

No, I think the "Maersk Blue" is actually a unique colour used in the Maersk sets.  Sand blue is definitely different.

Re: What brick color is your favorite? And Why?

I'm pretty sure those are sand blue. I got loads from the Medieval Village set - almost as many sand blue bricks as regular blue!

OK, that's a bit of a massive exaggeration.

Re: What brick color is your favorite? And Why?

MAERSK blue is different from snad blue.  I was told by TLG that Maersk licensed Lego with authorization only to use that color in Maersk sets.  Sand blue is the blue from the pet shop modular set.  MY favorite color is medium blue, the color of the Creator seaside house with the palm tree (http://shop.lego.com/en-US/Seaside-House-7346), or the doors int he Mountain hut from creator.  I like the color because it's pleasant.

My least favorite color is gray.

Re: What brick color is your favorite? And Why?

As a brickfilmer I love brown, I think the official color is red brown (I'm pretty sure just plain brown was a color from the early 2000's and back, which they no longer use). I find it very useful for the kind of sets that I build, especially Victorian era offices, of which I've built two. My favorite actual color of brick though has got to be either medium blue or earth blue, like HoldingOurOwn said, their just so pleasant.

Re: What brick color is your favorite? And Why?

Mine is dark grey.
I find myself building stuff in dark grey more than any other colour.  My Batman sets usually involve every building being totally dark grey, my outside sets have loads of dark grey rocks, and other sets I build are also have a lot of dark grey.

Grey is generally my favourite colour.  It's an odd choice, most people think grey is boring and dull, but I love it.  Mostly because of the way it helps present other colours.  More saturated stuff tends to look better next to grey, as the grey helps bring it out better.  Its good for depressing moods, and even in a bright colourful set, you can have some grey to let your eyes rest a bit.

Re: What brick color is your favorite? And Why?

I always liked the olive-green coloured bricks.

Though I don't have any myself, I feel they make a nice addition to any interior wall.

Re: What brick color is your favorite? And Why?

Dark or light grey.
75 percent of the sets I build use plenty of gray colors. If you use it right, you can get a sweet looking set with realistic color. So even when doing landscape sets such as a forest, I put some rocks or dirt in just so that your eyes don't get an overload of one solid color.

If you watch a movie and you would be surprised that almost no scene is completely void of grey.

I also like dark green. If mixed correctly with normal green it can make for a more realistic mood.

Re: What brick color is your favorite? And Why?

Backyard Legos, The brown is "reddish brown" according to Lego Digital Designer, and the unofficial name for it on http://Bricklink.com.  he earlier brown was more a straight up brown without the additional red.  I've got some parts from that era.

The Maersk Blue has a bit of yellow in it it seems, compared to medium blue.
