Re: BRAWL 2013 Update Thread!

I wish I would have animated for the past 6 hours instead of... I don't even know what has been going on but it's been fun.

Re: BRAWL 2013 Update Thread!

I'm about to punch my fist through the wall.

I have an hour animating and re-animating one particular shot. I keep bumping the camera, bumping the set, bumping the lights, etc. Once I finally got it right, I realized I left out the mod element. mini/twitch

no more brickfilming *sad face*.

Re: BRAWL 2013 Update Thread!

I feel your pain. I've left out the mod element twice now.

Also, does anyone have any ideas for a mod element when the shot is a couple of cars driving by the camera. There on a road.

Re: BRAWL 2013 Update Thread!

@Willco66,
#1, Put it on several of the cars, but in different places/ways
#2, Put it on a stationary object behind the cars that may get blacked at times, but is still visible at others.
#3, Put it on the side of the road with the camera.
#4, If you're filming in a taller aspect ratio than the final format, construct a rig to hold the mod in the area that will get cropped out. (Either the bricks, or a piece of paper with the letter) Be sure to not only get it high enough to block it out, but also provide a un-cropped version to the judges.

I'm literally down to putting in the footsteps sounds and I'm done. Course, my computer is also strangely slowing down, and the internet is getting more unreliable, so I'd better hurry up and finish this thing and get it uploaded.
Final run time is 2:14 including credits/titles. Had a better run time last THAC, but whatever.
Also, teaser poster.

Re: BRAWL 2013 Update Thread!

I really want to see it.
Good for you for getting it done so quickly.

I unfortunately, fell behind.  I didn't get all of the last scene finished today, but I got most of it.  Over 1,000 frames in one day is really good (well, technically, that's yesterday, since it is past midnight)

I only had a few failures needing re-dos, and I managed to get through the really long shots of dialogue which were 100 to 200 frames.
I really do not like spending that long on one line.

So, on the morrow, I'll have to animate the rest of that scene, which will at least take the whole morning, then I'll get on to editing and stay up all night if I have to to get it done.

I'm 87% sure I'll have enough time if I stick to it.

I can't promise anything, but I'll try.

Re: BRAWL 2013 Update Thread!

Hey everyone, your films are looking great!  I can't wait to see them all!

I'm going to be missing the end of BRAWL, I'm leaving tomorrow and don't get back until the 9th.  So, if I voiced in your film I'd appreciate it if you could send me a PM with the link once it's public.

@Pritchard  Huh. That's strange, I could swear I remember something about an ax...

@Droid I really like this frame.  A lot, even though I can't exactly tell what's happening it's a weird angle.   A weird but good angle.

I hope that this is a shot of him getting out of bed.
It would be an okay angle if it's meant to show his feet hitting the ground, if not, then it's really weird.
The frame also would be really good with an upward pan.

Re: BRAWL 2013 Update Thread!

I only have 30 seconds of animation... mini/frustrated

What lens do you use? Just the standard 18-55mm?

Yes, the standard 18-55mm.

Re: BRAWL 2013 Update Thread!

I FINISHED ANIMATION!
WOOOOO!

Now to edit for the rest of the day and stay up all night.

Unfortunately, I had to go and do a masking shot, ad that's going to take up some time. mini/tongue

The head on my tripod isn't a fluid one so pans and all that are out right now. Tis a shame though, and yes it is him getting out of bed.

Re: BRAWL 2013 Update Thread!

The animation is done.

The cinematography looks stunning, but the animation is not outstanding.

Re: BRAWL 2013 Update Thread!

That's great news, Loic F-B!

Masking has been completed, and sequencing has been underway for three days now. Voice acting still isn't complete yet, though.

Good luck! mini/wink

Re: BRAWL 2013 Update Thread!

Really excited to see everyone's films. Especially ChrisW's. I'm not so optimistic about mine though. I'm kind of dreading editing for some reason.

Hare's an out of context frame from Odoriferous:

I really want to see everyone's films.

We have about 24 hours left now, I'm planning to spend that time constantly awake editing my film.

Again, the frame is beautiful.

I can't wait!

Re: BRAWL 2013 Update Thread!

I hope this doesn't reveal any spoilers, but here it is anyway.
Me, rendering the final cut. And sighing in relief that it's finally done.
It's not as big in scale as many others, nor are the production values perfect, but it's mine, so I'm proud of it.

EDIT:
Grrrrhhhh! With five seconds left to render, it quit and told me that my system doesn't have enough memory....Twice...
In a row. Thankfully I still have plenty of time to fix that.

@Squid,
That's an interesting frame to say the least.
The toilet is a huge anachronism, but well built. The girls face is a bit basic for my liking, but the rock wall and arch(?) are certainly your style. Needless to say, I can wait to see your film.

Two problems though, it ain't tilted, and there ain't no lens flares. I want to see that frame fixed....Now. mini/tongue

It's a girl, though, one played by a man.

Lego used to only have smiley faces, even for girls.  I think that it gives it a more classic feel.  Also, it makes sense to go with a face that's not overly feminine, since she is played by me.

This shot may not be tilted, but nearly every single shot in the odoriferous lair is a slant, there's only one which is not.
I don't actually have any lens flares, but there are some rainbows and plenty of on set lighting.

I really think this film has some of the best lighting I've ever done.  It's so lovely in the throne room and the lair.
