Ok, so I don't know how to express how much I loved this film so I wouldn't even try. The reason I am posting here is because I just realized something:
That scene in the trailer where Emmet says "Can you make one of these in orange?" and batman responds with "No, I only work in black...and sometimes very, very dark grey".
That wasn't in the movie, was it? Did I miss it? I noticed some of the trailer scenes were waaay different then the actual scenes in the film.
"I think I got it, but just incase...tell me the whole thing again I wasn't listening."
When Emmit says that in the trailer he is at the masterbuilder meeting, but in the actual film he says that while riding on a horse in the wild west. The footage in the trailers was really tampered with. The scene at the end of the teaser trailer looks like daytime, but in the actual film it takes place at night.
Its not really that much of a bad thing that they did this, but for some reason it bothered me a lot when watching the film. I haven't been a huge movie follower/fan until recently, do other films do this? It's somewhat annoying.
Also, just on a side note, I would rate this film a 9.5/10
Everything was awesome!!! I'm gonna see it a bunch more times.
Trailers, especially for animated films, tend to recontexualize lines like that sometimes.
The line about working in black was still in the movie, but the setup for it was different.
"If you guys have any black pieces could you give them to me, I need them"
Sooo nostalgic, lol
*SNIP*
It appears your taking this situation very well, Sean.
Hey, Just Kidden, I also love Clone High. Was it ever released on DVD? If not, where can I watch 4free with actual quality video?
yeah, they got the complete first season on dvd
you can also watch decent quality of the episodes on youtube or watchcartoonsonline
It was pretty cool to see a direct reference to The Magic Portal in there.
I didn't spot it the first time, but I watched the movie again today and managed to pick it out.
For everyone else who missed it:
The big tube that the kid uses to drop Emmet back into the LEGO world has "magic portal" written on the side of it.
Ah, I missed that as well. Looks like I'll have to see it again!
That is rather cool to see a reference such as that.
Wyldstyle is my waifu
Great film! I'm glad the film turned out this way, there was tons of delighting references and good characters. I actually thought the film was even funnier than what the trailer was presenting.
The beginning could have been a bit longer. It might have been better with some more context on Emmet and especially Lord Business. But by the end, that didn't matter as much compared to the fantastic action scenes, LEGO references, animation (holy crap), jokes, music, and characters. Nice start for 2014.
So, I'm sitting it the theater watching this with my roommate (we're 19 and 20 btw) enjoying what is easily one of the greatest animated films of all time, when all of a sudden this pops up on the screen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_S0jZ8Ck1Bs and I'm like "I made that!" way to loud to be appropriate in a movie theater. The random Dad to my right probably thought I was crazy but whatever. It was only for a moment, and it wasn't even the whole screen, but it was one of the greatest moments of my life.
I made the video for a contest pertaining to the movie, and I knew they wanted to use the winning entry, but I had no idea they were going to use mine (which was grossly inferior to a lot of the other entries by the likes of RP, TheFourMonkeys, bionicle28, Paganomation, a lot of people). Perhaps they're using different entries to the contest in different regions of distribution, I don't know. Regardless, I nearly peed myself with excitement. ![]()
We watched a Kre-o advertisement.
I wanted to punch someone so badly.
So, I've been staying off of BiM for the last couple of days, so as to absolutely avoid any spoilers for the film, and to go into the movie with as clean a slate as possible. And well, I'm sorry to say...
HOLY CARP THIS MOVIE WAS AWESOME!
Seriously, I've haven'y felt this overjoyed by a movie in a long time. I honestly just loved everything about it. The beginning, middle, and end! And for as much as I had followed this movie pre-release, I was happy how much it managed to surprise me.
This movie now joins the relatively small ranks of films that made me cry. Really, it hits ya right were it stings.
Congrats to BackyardLegos, Brotherhood Studios, and everyone else whose animations made it into the film. It was really exciting to see some talented brickfilmers getting the spotlight in it!
Also, does anyone know who animated the end credits sequence? I really want to know so I can give them an internet hug.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go download that AWESOME soundtrack.

Definitely a super flick. No let down for me at all.
I went to see it with 7 other people today, and let me tell you, it blew away my expectations completely. It was the most amazing movie since Toy Story 3. I will admit, the trailer looked very cheesy, but the movie actually turned out to a very hilarious and heartwarming adventure with an amazing twist.
From an animator's standpoint, I would say that the style was a little inconsistent. There were times when certain movements were way too fluid to be real stop-motion, and there were other times where the choppy aspect of the animation felt a little forced, but that could be just me. Also, there were many subtle shoulder and neck movements that would not be possible for a real LEGO figure, but those movements add emotion, so I won't complain too much.
Regardless of my nitpicks, I thoroughly enjoyed the film, and I can honestly say that it is now among my top favorites. If you have not seen it yet, GO SEE IT RIGHT NOW. You will not be disappointed.
TLM earned almost 70 million dollars in just three days.
Makes me wonder what the future holds for any other Lego feature films, our brickyfilms on YouTube, BiM, etc.
After watching a few behind the scenes videos, I'm fairly certain the producers looked on BiM for feedback.
So, just want to put this out there, I'm available for voice acting the next movie, just send me an email.
Can you link to these behind the scenes videos? I'm really interested in seeing what happened behind the blocky curtains.
Also, I'M ALSO OPEN FOR VOICE ACTING IN THE NEXT FILM, PHIL AND CHRIS, JUST POST A REPLY OR SHOOT ME A PM OR SHOOT ME IN THE FACE OR WHATEVER. I ACCEPT PAYMENT IN CASH, TERIYAKI CHICKEN, LEGO, OR YOU CAN JUST NOT PAY ME AT ALL, WHATEVER WORKS FOR YOU.
