Topic: Weird "x" in Blender 2.66

So I was trying to learn something about the node editor, and when I move my cursor over the viewer node, a, "x" appears on the image. I'm using Blender 2.66a for Windows 32-bit (although I have a 64-bit OS). Anways, here's a screenshot with the problem circled in red. And you can ignore the three unconnected nodes. Any help would be appreciated. mini/smile

Also, if it helps, I've been using this tutorial.

Re: Weird "x" in Blender 2.66

Does it affect anything? It could just be an indicator saying "Hey, you're working in this window now!"

Re: Weird "x" in Blender 2.66

Well, like I said I'm using a tutorial to learn what the things do, and I should be getting a rim glow on the planet, when I connect the nodes. However, all I get is a black image. So, I think the "x" might be saying that the black is supposed to be transparent or something. I dunno. Also, would it affect it, if I'm using a different version of Blender than the tutorial (2.6 vs. 2.5)?

Re: Weird "x" in Blender 2.66

I may have a reason for this unexplained "X":

I believe that its a reminder that the Viewer node is selected and not the Composite node.  If you switch between the two, the "X" will disappear.

It act to remind the user that although there is an image on the screen, pressing F12 will not render an image unless a composite node is connected to the tree.

Purely speculation, but it has help remind me!

If I'm on the forums, I'm probably waiting for Blender to finish rendering.

Okay, that seems to be how it works. Thanks. mini/smile
