Topic: Running at 20 fps/ special effects/ video overlay test

In a brief burst of recent inspiration, I combined several animation tests into one video clip (or at least, loosely tied them together). Tell me what you think of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_dZ9k4u7iY

Re: Running at 20 fps/ special effects/ video overlay test

The animation is pretty smooth, but it's also too slow a lot of the time. I've seen this a lot with higher framerates, and I think the way to fix this is to just keep practicing (of course) until you have achieved a balanced speed. The looped footage with the fireplace doesn't look good; make sure your camera is very secure when filming loops. The smoke effect is obviously an overlay. I'm not too experienced with overlays, but I recommend watching some tutorials about how to use them more effectively.

The sound could be better. In the running shot, the footsteps are obviously not in sync with the video. I think this is because instead of using individual step sounds, you used a sound that contains many footsteps. I don't think this is ever really a good idea; next time, you should use individual step sounds so you'll have more control of when each step occurs. Also, the chair-squeaking sound is probably too loud. Overall, though, this video is pretty well done. Nice work.
