Re: Sets and Props Critique Thread
Pretty cool. You make brown work! Good feel of an olde time pub. The counter area is the best part.

I rebuilt the General Store for a scene in 1 hour. I shot the stills but lost all of it so I had to rebuild it. Here is a surviving image of the original set:
Here is the same set, rebuilt from the above photo:
You can read about the process of reconstructing it here:

Don't you hate it when you have to rebuild a set. Did that for my "Back to the Lab" films. You definitely packed a lot of nice detail in there, very nicely done.
Nice job! I'm glad you were able to salvage that one frame so as to properly rebuild your set.
Alright help me out here, fellas. It's looking really plan, any simple or cool ideas you have would be super appreciated.
Sorry for the large image.
Thanks, buddies
Since you're using a brick built floor, some sort of pattern or highlight design in the floor would be nice, I think it would help make the space feel less empty.
** wrong thread **
I think it's looking a tiny bit bare. Maybe a screen or a giant sci-fi window above Luthor, a patterned floor, and some battle trophies along the sides (e.g. Orb of Ra, a dead Thanagarian helmet, a Lantern ring, etc).
Also,
Zod needs a neck brace, and Freeze needs some ice cream.
Not sure if it's just me but, I can't see the image.
Not sure if it's just me but, I can't see the image.
Its not just you I can't see it ether.
The first thing that comes to mind is adding some kind of pattern/decoration to the floor, but I think that may be a bit too much if it's not a really dull colour or fairly plain.
I'd suggest adding some kind of decoration to the walls (Jampot's ideas are really good), I'd suggest the window especially)but keep it simple. It is plain now, but I'd air on the side of too plain rather than too crowded.
If you light it right then it could look really cool with a single light directlt above, then you shouldn't even need to build much more because it would all be in shadow and avoid building more to the set.
EDIT: I can't see it either, drag the url into a new tab.
Fixed the link, y'all. Ye can thank me later.
Haha, I could see it before, but now it's gone.
I could never see it, and can't see it now.
Anyway, can't suggest much that hasn't already been said. Some wall decorations and cool lighting should do wonders for it, so try that. And as for shooting it, just avoid straight-on/boring camera angles, that should help even more.
Anyway, I've been trying to find a cool spaceship design, and have it something close.
I like the back, and the overall shaping, but the front just seems a bit too plain and I'm not quite sure about that cone/antenna on the tip. Any ideas?
As always, more pics here.
Extra pics removed to keep thread cleaner. See link above to find them.
@Pritchard, I actually like the front better then the back. Then again, I have always liked muh simplicityz... I'd keep the antenna, reminds me of a deflector dish from Star Trek ships. I would consider removing some of the running lights on the "wings." If the ship is supposed to be as big as I think it is, then the lights seem WAY out of scale.
I prefer the front too. The angle you used when shot the first image is really dramatic. I've been working on designing small spaceships for Lego Friends.
I like it. For some reason I'm reminded a bit of the ships from "Firefly"
Now we're talking! A vast improvement for sure. Can't really give any more advice, other then to just sit it somewhere until inspiration falls upon you...
Pritchard, much improved. Good job! I've been working on some space ideas I have been refining and re-refining and re-re-refining and would like to soon post and hear your thoughts on them.
