Topic: Basic Blender tutorials

I'm considering starting a short series of basic training videos on the subject of Blender.

Would anyone be interested in such a thing?

While my knowledge of 3d modeling programs is limited mostly to Blender, I am also learning Maya, and could shortly post a basic Maya series as well.

Re: Basic Blender tutorials

Yes, I would be very interested.
I've opened Blender a few times in the vain attempt to model something, and utterly failed each and every time.
So I could really use something like this.

Re: Basic Blender tutorials

That would be amazing! If you could have the tutorial be mostly pertaining to LEGO things in Blender, that would be even better, IMO. But just a basic guide to Blender in general would be greatly appreciated mini/smile

Yes, we need something like that. But I echo kcirbfilms, tutorials for modeling Lego figs.

Re: Basic Blender tutorials

I would be interested. I am planning to use Blender for effects, because my edition of Sony Vegas can't set blending modes.

Re: Basic Blender tutorials

Well, thanks for the quick responses, guys!

As far as Lego modeling, that would come towards the end of the series, one the viewer learns how to create, model, shade, texture, animate, and render basic objects.

Re: Basic Blender tutorials

Can you teach some basic features of the video sequence editor too?
And some tips on rendering?

Re: Basic Blender tutorials

Here's somethings that I think people would wanna see:
-Basic (Hotkeys, controls, etc.)
-Making Models
-Simple Animation
-Advanced Animation
-Textures and Color

All these I am having a bit of trouble finding.

Re: Basic Blender tutorials

That's about what I was thinking.

Does anyone know of a good, free screen capture program?

Re: Basic Blender tutorials

No, I don't know.  And I don't know to ask a search engine for one...mini/frustrated

I personally use Freez Video Screen capture

Re: Basic Blender tutorials

I'm pretty sure I've tried all the free ones that get decent reviews.

At this point, I'm ready to invest in a good one.

Re: Basic Blender tutorials

Have you seen Debut Video Capture by NCH? I think that's a good one, masters edition is overpriced but you can get a trial version, then when the trial runs out you can downgrade and use it forever. You only lose things like watermark and so but still a good software. Has sound capture to, you can turn that off. And still shot capture too. Hope I helped.

Re: Basic Blender tutorials

Looks interesting.
I'll give it a shot.

Re: Basic Blender tutorials

Le bump.
This thread was mentioned, so it shall return.

Allow me to explain my lack of tutorials.
Firstly, I have not yet been able to find a free screen capture program that doesn't absolutely suck, and secondly, my power's been out for the past 10 days, leaving me with no way to look at the internet, except for my phone, which is brutally slow at home.

My current computer isn't as powerful as I would like, but it does the job of using the applications that I would be teaching, however, most of the processor is devoted to that leaving the screen capture looking rather choppy.

In the end, I'll probably get FRAPS or DXtory, as they are quite good, and relatively inexpensive.

Re: Basic Blender tutorials

Camtasia Studio is also good. I dont know if it is free, but I got it free mini/shifty
It would be really helpful so please do it!

I need a new name! HELP

Re: Basic Blender tutorials

You got it free?
I'm pretty sure it costs like $100. Did you Torrent it?

Re: Basic Blender tutorials

I dont remember, but I might have done that... I did it just to try it, if I liked it I would have bought it of course! mini/tongue Havent used it that much, but it seems great to me.

Re: Basic Blender tutorials

You can use it free for a month.

Re: Basic Blender tutorials

See, I don't really want to deal with the trial versions. They sometimes have a watermark, which I want nothing to do with.

Re: Basic Blender tutorials

HyperCam2. I was looking at screen capture programs a little while ago, and this was the only one that worked for me and was free.
