The Dark Knight Rises Trailer 2: IN LEGO

I recreation of The Official Dark Knight Rises Trailer in our favorite building system! This took way too many months to shoot, and way too many problems to upload.

I say, that was impressive. Usually trailer recreations are pretty cheesy, but you actually made something rather decent, even with some parts that looked cool.
Nice work. mini/smile

Wow, quite well done. I've thought about attempting something like this before (for the purpose of getting views on YouTube), but this is a particularly ambitious trailer to recreate. The matching of the lighting in particular is pretty cool.

The animate seemed a bit rough, though. Mostly like the figures weren't very stable or something.

I think it's the high frame rate coupled with the unstableness that resulted in some epileptic  movements.  Got to love onion skinning.  Looks like Forrestfire is using the same Bane fig.

My HD camcorder, being a camcorder, prevents me from having an onion skinning option. And I find it easier, most of the time, to animate without additional tools. But yes, at 24p it's tougher to create perfectly smooth movement.

The ultimate goal of the project was to make the coolest cinematography possible, and I think it ultimately succeeded. I understand how some of the slower shots look rougher, but I find it gives  the animation a very gritty "this is a stop motion, deal with it" feeling, which I think works well in its own right.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises Trailer 2: IN LEGO

Wow, simply amazing. The animation, effects, everything is really very good. Great work.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises Trailer 2: IN LEGO

Overall an epic trailer remake. As it's already been said, most of them are pretty cheesy and lame. This was great though! Some choppy animating was the downside however, but it wasn't enough to detract too much from the video. Great job and keep up the amazing work! mini/smile

Re: The Dark Knight Rises Trailer 2: IN LEGO

Very impressive. I like it much, but some scenes was not smooth as the others. Maybe you got too many pictures on them. mini/bigsmile But anyway, nice work. The effects and mouth movements was awesomeness and are every time. I just speak in imperfect, 'cause I watched it some minutes or hours ago. mini/wink

I think the CGI could have been better, but you did a great job with the Cinematography mini/smile

Wow, you have high standards, you know this had a production cost of 0 right? May be When I hire Weta, animate at 2000fps, work in Hollywood's backlot I can get 6.5 out of 10. mini/rolleyes

mini/smile Thanks though, I guess.

PS: Also, if you watch the trailer, the actual sets aren't exactly the Vatican, many of the shots take place in dull tunnels, and, Ultimately, I was working with my brick count and the trailers look. This animation was quite a large step up for me, so I find it odd your judging me by the highest standards.

Don't take it too hard...all his reviews are like that

Re: The Dark Knight Rises Trailer 2: IN LEGO

I think 6/10 is a pretty good rating, just check my other reviews.

Sorry if I ''offended'' you, but we all have the right to like or dislike a brickfilm, you know...

However, I liked your video (I'm a Batman fan) mini/wink

That's pretty much like everyone else here.  Only a few meet that high standard at $0.  We're not Youtubers on this forum, we're critics.

Obviously I'm completely open to constructive criticism  from fellow BrickFilmers like yourself, as this was mostly a case of misunderstanding, and if I want to make Loïc F-B happy I'll try 1000 times harder next time mini/lol .

Anyways, lets stop discussing my defense for my own work, and focus on the film please. This really isn't necessary anymore. mini/smile

Re: The Dark Knight Rises Trailer 2: IN LEGO

Not really much I can say that hasn't already been said mini/tongue
I have to say well done for attempting CGI I thought it was fairly good, it's no easy task to get it to look believable, let alone compositing it with stop motion.

Well done, dude mini/wink

Re: The Dark Knight Rises Trailer 2: IN LEGO

I think that the cinematography was done very well and the CGI even though it wasn't perfect but it was good, it was believable. The effects were also done well, animation itself wasn't supersmooth but also was fine. Overall it's a pretty great video and I really enjoyed watching it.
