Topic: New Film Directory Format
I've heard about things such as revamping the film directory and scrapping the review panel and I recently got an idea that I would like to suggest. Instead of having appointed staff members review films, what if we only had user-generated reviews instead? So instead of getting one review on the page for a film, we could have a thread right under the director's comment section where regular members could post a written review. There would also be a rating system for the user-created reviews, where higher rated reviews float to the top and the reviews that are a single sentence saying something like "OMG BEST LEGO MOVEE EVAH <3" sink to the bottom. The format would be a lot like the review system Netflix is currently using.
I'm suggesting this partially because I liked having the Recommended Films feature and if we lift the burden of having to write a review off of a panel member, it could be more likely that we could bring back the Recommended Films. Now, I'm not requesting that we bring back the Recommended Films, because that would probably never happen. What I am asking is if the staff would consider implementing a reviewing system that has already been proven to be effective (see Netflix) and get the community more involved with reviewing films.
