Re: Lego Ideas (formerly Cuusoo)
Two more Ideas sets have been announced: LEGO Birds and... ugh... The Big Bang Theory.
I'm excited for Birds, not so much The Big Bang Theory. They said they are thinking about making one of the two Doctor Who sets!

My Friend & I submitted a Big Bang Theory set in Cube Dude form. It never got off the ground. I'm surprised that it is accepted as appropriate, considering my Regular Show models were rejected.

I'm not a doctor who fan, but the sets are elegant! So I hope it'll win the reviews. All the rest are not of interest at all. However, I will admit there are some interesting pieces in the big bang set I wouldn't mind getting my hands on!
Sincerely,
Divine.
Agreed
Galactic Films
Technically its wayne manor with a batcave underneath. Both Wayne Manor and Invisible Hand are in the Next cycle, along with X mansion, Hubble Telescope, Lightsabers, Wall-E, Ghostbusters Firehouse, and the UCS AT-AT, as well as the now held over doctor Who. Because everything is licensed this review is going to take forever.
Bump.
So the results of the latest review are in...
Don't especially care about Wall-e... but WE'RE GETTING DOCTOR WHO!
I'm curious to see how the actual set will work. I'm hoping we'll get at least several Doctors and companions, and some villains as well.
Looking over the suggestions, though, it's a bit sad to see that nearly every project is somehow based off a pre-existing franchise. Still, there seem to be quite a few "original" projects for the next review, so that's not too bad.
NO THE HUBBLE GOT REJECTED!
YES! Official Doctor Who Lego! It's a dream come true!
My only concern is if they don't make enough of it, and it becomes super-hard to find like a few of the other Lego Ideas sets. Surely they know the huge popularity and demand for such a thing and produce enough to fill that demand.
Extremely happy about Doctor Who.
Disappointed about WALL.E (I really want the X-Manion).
LEGO Ideas isn't as exciting to me as it used to be. It's getting old. When it was Cuusoo, it was more exciting, because more original ideas were posted more often. Now adays, we have all this licensed stuff. LEGO Ideas is like a way to get contracts with IPs without having to launch an entire line based on the theme. It seems as if the only original models that get votes on Ideas now are MoCs with no playability value.
As for this wave of sets, the Dr Who looks interesting. Wall-E... meh. Dr. Who... I think they rushed into it. There were plenty more awesome Dr Who things on there, and there will still be better ones to come.
As for the next review line, I hope nothing in that line gets approved. Some of them have already been sets (Like the Avengers Helicarrier), or have had the opportunity to be sets but weren't (like the LoTR), and some of them have no playability and are just MoCs (like the piano).
LEGO Ideas needs some new ideas.
I've been waiting ten years fir this.
TEN YEARS.
I'm hoping that if the set is successful enough maybe we might get a proper line (like with LEGO Minecraft). I must have this.

Rushed into it? Hardly. People (myself included) have wanted Doctor Who for years now, and there have been several DW projects ever since Cuusoo/Ideas first launched that made it to 10,000 that were rejected due licensing problems. The two DW projects under consideration in this review got 10,000 after LEGO announced they'd be considering DW-themed ideas again. If anything, LEGO are long overdue in making a Doctor Who-themed set.
As far as original ideas go, I agree the lack of non-licensed ideas is somewhat disappointing, but it's not surprising given the amount of support needed to get into the review phase. And there have been plenty of non-licensed ideas that got made into products (see: Hayabusa-or-however-it's-spelled satellite, Curiosity Rover, Research Institute, Exo-Suit, Birds--which surely must be one of the unlikeliest ideas to make the cut...). I'd say the split is roughly 50-50, which, all things considered, isn't too bad. Plus, of the upcoming ideas to be reviewed, half are original (and we can immediately rule out the Helicarrier and Jurassic Park as these are coming as official sets/themes).
As far as the next review goes, I'd love to see a Natural History Museum in LEGO, complete with a Spirit Collection room.

@Rioforce
Yeah this https://ideas.lego.com/projects/31711 is what lego ideas needs more of, but the only reason we'd ever see that (which is the reason I joined in the first place) would get made is if altariel submitted it; since if she submits any project it will hit 10k.
Realistically, I don't think it's as likely for any of the LEGO Ideas to be non-licensed ideas. An idea would require a huge amount of support, and people would probably be more interested in seeing things of which they are really fond come out, thus support those ideas first.
But, as far as non-licensed things go, we still have all of the themes LEGO makes regularly.
BUT THERE IS STILL NOT A SPACE THEME SINCE SUMMER 2013!
Space troopers should not have been rejected a while back, we need a space theme besides star wars.
Rioforce, you have a great point, but Ideas/"Cuusoo" just published Exo-Suit, a nice original set that ties into classic space.
This https://ideas.lego.com/ made my day. One of my projects got staff picked!:D
